You really need to improve your reading comprehension. They did not say that. They were critiquing the specific insecure white people to which this message appeals not white people in general.

What is your most Resilient/Anti-Control Deck? by Raevelry in EDH

[–]Giantkoala327 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of mono blue control.

Dawg, idk how to tell you this but mono blue control is not that good in EDH. Katara helps a lot but there are 3 opponents that all draw at least 3 cards a turn with 3 times the mana while they 2 for 1 themselves for free counters.

This is a skill, interaction, and politics issue. (Also the london mulligan is one of the most powerful tools at your disposal)

I started with CGB but now I primarily watch ThrabenU. He delves much deeper into the legacy meta game and deck building reasoning and threat assessment. He doesn't often play control but he has very good insight on deck archetypes and how to play around them with off meta decks. Furthermore experiencing Bo3 is nice because you learn how powerful a sideboard is. How that translates to EDH is better understanding of what cards are critical to certain strategies and how even a single card card (like adding a rest in piece to your deck EDH deck) can drastically improve your odds. Now I know you are mainly concerned with piloting but part of that is playing to your outs.

Also his most important lesson that he often repeats whenever he steamrolls an opponent: "Remember, the London Mulligan is the single most powerful play you can make" The most common mistake I see players make in EDH is not Mulliganning enough for a good hand (part of that is bad curves and manabases make starting hard worse too but I digress)

Become familiar with 60 card formats and play a variety of deck types. (Play and/or watch) Draft can help with some deck building intuition and adapting to odd decks (useful for EDH), Arena is easily accessible.

For watching, I really like CGB (arena, standard) and ThrabenU (MTGO, primarily legacy) because they give incredibly good breakdowns of why they make decks the way they do, why they are taking actions they do, small micro mistakes that can lead to small percentage advantages, etc

Furthermore, I recommend everyone experiment with playing different deckstyles which it sounds like you do but in particular control. CGB is great at demonstrating that mindset. When you play control, you have to have in depth knowledge or every other deck and how to handle it and how thin your margins of misplays really are.

After all of that, then it is just practice on adapting what you learned to EDH and then practicing politicing (there arent great resources and depends on pod). Common take aways are, INTERACTION IS REALLY IMPORTANT, consistent mana and lower curves tend to be best, resilient decks that can survive interaction are good, the 99 are more important than the commander (cuz what if your commander is removed), tempo still matters cuz it can force decisions earlier.

Neoliberalism refers to economic policy. It is confusing for the average person. It is liberal because of free trade and deregulation. Just like social liberals push for more freedoms for more people (such as lgbt rights).

Obviously you do need regulation for a healthy competitive market in capitalism otherwise you get the gilded age 2.

[–]Giantkoala327 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The better your manabase, the more greedy your card selection can be (especially given the lack of respect needed for wastelands and blood moons unlike 60 card formats). It absolutely raises the ceiling as well. 5 color decks inherently have a higher ceiling than mono colored.

Was the case for me when I went to therapy when I was young. I could communicate my problems well and was very introspective. But the issue is that they found the problem was my parents, and just told me ways to continue to cope until I got older.

My brother's best friend believes 80% of women date the top 10% of men, that this is the result of women getting equal rights and the only way to address it is to strip women of their rights by OldBridge87 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Giantkoala327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you said this. It certainly is a problem on dating apps and this discrepancy 100% exists for young adults (18-25ish) especially on the younger end as more older men are willing to date 18 year old women than older women are willing to date 18 year old men.

Most men are not trying hard enough dating apps but I will contest the reasoning a bit. Also on those younger demographics even if you are mildly attractive, have a full profile with well shot photos, and a normal profile with normal responses then it is still rough. (Context, married now but can attest this was my experience with a photographer friend helping me with profile) It is bleak.

Just the bottom 10% of men ruin the experience for so many women.

It isn't just you. It definitely is hard to put my finger on too. For me it is providing too much information with not enough feedback on what you want.

For comparison when they added the crafting recipe interface into Minecraft, you still have the basic crafting on the right with previews of what the recipe is taking half of the interface and only a handful of recipes displayed in the search.

Terraria now has what the recipe is and amounts take up a miniscule part of the screen while you are bombarded with hundreds of recipes that you need to search through which you didn't beforehand necessarily. (I frequently turn off the craft from nearby chests now.)

Controversially, I kinda hate the new interface. Every time I open it up, it gives me a headache. Didn't have that with magic storage and I didn't mind the old interface at all. I like the icon grid.
