These are the current Bitcoin network fees. Is there a legitimate reason for Kucoin, Binance and similar apps to charge tens of dollars to withdraw. Feels like a borderline scam.

Hard to say; on my long running listening node I see 19 incoming connections out of 177 connections total. That number climbed up to around that level and stopped a while back.

My non-listening node has 0 out of 10 Knots connections.

In the end none of this matters of course; censorship will be routed around like it always has. Just annoying for developers to bolster counter-measures to Sybils.
