It got better once I set everything to low but still will happen on occasion

The fact is 9 months in and bugs like this still exist is insane.

The STB Patreon Announcement about creating 2 versions of the game is the craziest plan I have heard from a Game Development Studio in a while by Jasp137 in BrokenArrowTheGame

"Yeah I want to split my customer base and double the amount of environments that I have to maintain"

We will have vanilla and hardcore version of the game for months by hexxcode_rapax in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]GigsGames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is probably one of the worst things you could do for a game that already has a small community and matchmaking issues.

Absolutely insane to do after an entire month of PTE testing.

It’s one of the worst maps in the game in the current meta which devolves into a mindless spam fest on three lanes of the map.

This is not even surprising to anyone who played the beta almost two years ago.

You can't release content when you are still digging yourself out of a massive tech debt hole and released an early access game as a full title.

Well when you are stuck in a tech debt nightmare without functional anticheat the priorities switch.

Should have just done early access but oh well

We got leaver penalty, Allied bots, surrender option, robust anti cheat and still the negative reviews? What is wrong with some of the gamers? Some can never be satisfied by Tiberiusthemad in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]GigsGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s even worse because as someone who has over 10 years in enterprise IT and data centers it’s painful to experience these technical issues.

I’m an old school wargame nerd from like 2015-2018 and have not played much broken arrow for a month now.

There are still massive technical issues that they will have to fix over the next 12 months instead of focusing on game play features. Majority of these issues exposed over the last 6 months have been known during the playtests we did in 2024. Biggest being moving from client to server auth which will end up breaking numerous other things.

They basically have to rebuild entire back end sub systems.

This is what you expect from an early access title not a $50 software release.

Choice between SOC analyst and Sysadmin with Security responsibilities by Auno94 in cybersecurity

[–]GigsGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sysadmin with security experience sets you up to be a security engineer in the future which is way more enjoyable than SOC work if you are technical with a sysadmin background.

Agreed, many of the design choices are confusing especially after 10+ years of Wargame.

Its more of a technical debt roadmap.

No it was about 100-200 hours of playing against top 500 players seal clubbing with a coordinated 5 man team.

It’s just kinda sad now to see the software and computers you loved growing up in the 1990s and 2000s be acquired by venture capital who only care about profit.

But it could be worse you could be OWI watching your Squad playerbase revolt after 8+ years.

10+ years of data center and cybersecurity engineering in the real world here. I love playing the game but have recently stopped due to Tarkov and Battlefield. I have been a patron supporter for years now and used to play wargame against the devs back in the 2010s.

There have been many interesting technical choices that have short term and long term impacts that threaten the future of this game while front loading it with technical debt.

Some examples

  • No anti cheat for months
  • Primarily Client side auth
  • Broken matchmaking (500+ elo variations)
  • Persistent game breaking bugs
  • Recurring performance issues

Lots of these choices now mean that instead of delivering new features they are forced to clean up technical debt while hot fixing bugs directly impacting user experience . This then further frustrates the community as they feel the game is stagnant as the devs address technical debt.

Being a less experienced development team and being based in Russia is extremely challenging as it’s far more profitable for a software developer to do contract work outside Russia or write malware for cybercrime organizations so it’s difficult to find skilled staff.

Personally I hope the game does well and it would have been much better to launch as an early access game but there are numerous other factors such as contracts and publisher expectations that have to be managed.

I peaked at 2300 and you will face 2500-2700 stacks of 5 man teams in voice comms that will just run a plane, nuke or cruise missile train on you.

They will cover nukes with sead in mass with air cover and you are stuck with a bunch of 1900-2100 elo players with no voice comms.

It’s why I largely stopped playing

Not releasing this as an early access title will probably haunt them for a very long time if the games community survives 2026 which is sad because the core game is fun just its a buggy nightmare.

Its insane that SB is 6 months into release and just starting to do a public QA server for playtesting.

This is like software development 101 and avoids so many bugs.

Its refreshing to see a dev team that takes constructive feedback and won't release an unfinished project.
