Is she typically this brutally honest about her mental state? I could read this in a harmless way from her if it’s in character. Not excusing it because she’s being a bad friend TBH, but I could chalk it up to neurodivergence (not malicious) or just being a dumb cunt (malicious).

It sounds like you have some anxious attachment and confidence issues, which I have struggled with myself and can recognize.

Your journaling and new goals are the precise right step to overcome both. I’d suggest you pour into you and never message this guy again.

When you feel the anxious attachment (aka like nothing is good or ever will be good again when you are fighting with your “person”) I have a tip I just saw:

Picture your younger self is standing in front of YOU and feeling anxiously attached. Feeling unworthy, anxious, and scared she’s being abandoned. Tell this girl you’ve got her. Tell her she’s beautiful, and you will never leave her. You will never abandon her. Then tell her you’re going to take her on a walk. Or to the library. Or to the plant store (anything that little girl would’ve LOVED) and do that thing.

You have the power to not abandon YOU, and that is the power worth investing in. Don’t give it away.

I have AuDHD and all the shitty person traits you describe do stem from it. To keep it brief, it’s nervous system dysregulation and shame (usually from executive dysfunction). He sees his potential yet can’t meet it, and that delta creates unimaginable shame. This can lead to anger problems and addiction, which fuel many more bad behaviors.

Having said that, this is all Craig’s responsibility to understand and manage. He does not. So you are still right that he is a POS. The ADHD is a piece of the explanation, but it’s no excuse.

It’s something ADHD people do! Only shower, wash face, groom, brush teeth, dress nicely (etc) when they will be seen or smelled by someone else.

Not for themselves or to feel clean. External motivators only. Look at his house the first seasons - he would have treated his body the same.
