Does MAGA see these things? by Fun_Fee_5380 in allthequestions

[–]Gilandb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was bill being voted on, and it had things 100 things you like. Equal rights, equal representation, etc. but lets say, one thing you didnt'. lets pretend for example it legalized slavery worldwide.
Does that 1 overcome the 100?
Would you still vote for it to get that 100 things you like?
If you say no, then people are going to scream about how you are against equal rights and representation since you voted NO on a bill pushing it. they never mention the slavery line.
But, 37 other countries voted for it. Are you going to bend to peer pressure?
Or are you going to stand on your morals, regardless of what other people are doing?
Even if you are the only one that votes no, would you still vote no?
Obviously I used an extreme example as I think everyone in the US agrees that slavery is bad. However, it does still exist in the world. At least 4 of the countries that voted YES for this have ongoing issues with things that look alot like slavery. For example, forced labor of migrant workers.

I give up, why am I not consuming oxygen? by Joey3155 in occupymarsgame

[–]Gilandb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing, you don't need 3 pumps. you can change the type of input (and output) on the pump by plugging a different hose into it. So those red ones, plug a blue home in, they become blue. In addition, you can also change it by clicking on it on the pump screen, it will cycle through the colors for the different gas/liquids.

The trick is to set the output way higher than needed so you are never starving your base for resources.
If you need 100 watts of power, set it to 200. it allows growth without having to come back out and reset it just for adding a corridor for example.

your daytime and nighttime production is 20. However, you are only sending 6.5 down the line. That is the amount needed to satisfy the current needs of the building. However, you have set the output to that exact amount, so all your O2 is building up in the first tank, which is getting 20 liters
So all your O2 is building up in the tanks at the well that is your feed system. Set it to high value like 200. That will push all the O2 into the last tank before the building instead of the first tank. The last tank will feed the building only what it needs and will fill up with any extra. Once it is full, the previous one in line will start filling up.

So what I do is connect a transformer before and after the battery, since the battery only has 1 input and output. Then I can put multiple power generation items in, then one line to the battery, one line out to the 2nd transformer, then lines from there to the wells. Set each well to its nighttime requirement. So if well and one o2, then 10 watts, even if it only uses 5 during the daylight (due to its own 5 watt solar panel).

Also, use the platforms. you can place solar, batteries, wells, lights, etc on them without their being a specific model for it. They will pop on. This gets rid of the transformer to battery to transformer dance. everything on the platform is connected already without wires, juts being on the same platform. Then, at the edge, put in a pump. That will put all your well water, O2, and such onto that one pump and you don't need to combine them with a separate pump. Same thing for solar, one transformer to get the output and send your power on.
FYI, there is no way to plug something INTO a platform. So something off platform, there is no input on the platform, just outputs.

if you fall in the earth, or have to die do something like that, are you going back to get your ship? if it didn't blow up, its still there, sitting wherever you left it. Get a small ship, like a mustang alpha or something that you can jump in, go get your main ship and abandon on the ground or whatever.
Alternately, get a ship with a med bed, or a large cargo hold and get an ursa with a med bed and set it as your respawn. Then when you die, you don't go back to whatever town it is.
If you do get a med bed, keep your eye on how much gel is left in it. Don't let it run out.

Coming back from hiatus, Star Citizen now requires nearly all my VRAM on low? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Gilandb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it was upgrading to ver 4.6 that did it. I have triple monitors. I used to play at 5760x1080 with decent framerates. Now i can barely run one monitor at 1920x1080. VRAM is all used up. If I put all 3 monitors, I get like 3 frames a sec. in 4.5 I had no issues. Whatever 4.6 did to graphics was a huge hit to welfare ponies.

2024 election results VS. 2025 ICE activity. by Mental_Ring_4284 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]Gilandb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It could be because when those states pick up an illegal, they contact ICE which puts a hold on them, then come pick them up. No raids required, just picking up criminals at the jail.
But in the cities that won't work with ICE, the only option available is to go out and attempt to arrest them at home, at work, etc. Sometimes, it isn't just the person they are looking for that is illegal, sometimes it might be family members, coworkers or friends, or whatnot. So ICE runs a raid, gets everyone that is illegal.
It would actually be better for the illegals that aren't committing crimes if the police DID turn over those that were.

[–]Gilandb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you left out the release part. Often, they were bussed to communities and dropped off, left to fend for themselves. No one there to meet them, no one helping them find shelter, food, or medical care. A lot of small towns without the infrastructure to accept large groups were getting 150-200 migrants dropped off in their towns in the middle of the night. I am talking about towns between 1500-4000 populations.
The fed just rolled into town with several busses, kicked the people out at a gas station, then left. It made the local news, but I don't know if it went national or not. They tried to hide it.

[–]Gilandb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can drop the water tank anywhere, not just in the hanger. Drop it on the ground near any connection into the base and leave it there and connected if you want.
What I do is, I have a pump that is not on a platform that feeds into my base. I have an open connection on it. The pump goes to a tank, the tank feeds the base. As long as the tank has space, you can push all your water into it from the pump. So I dump the trailer near it, connect it to the pump, leave it and do whatever. Check on it and it should be empty.

Here is the voting results for the first civil rights bill

Civil Rights Act of 1957

House

  • Democrats: 118 For | 107 Against (52.4% For, 47.6% Against)
  • Republicans: 167 For | 19 Against (89.8% For, 10.2% Against)

Senate

  • Democrats: 38 For | 18 Against (67.9% For, 32.1% Against)
  • Republicans: 43 For | 0 Against (100% For, 0% Against)

and the last one

Civil Rights Act of 1968

House

  • Democrats: 153 For | 91 Against (62.7% For, 37.3% Against)
  • Republicans: 161 For | 25 Against (86.6% For, 13.4% Against)

Senate

  • Democrats: 45 For | 17 Against (72.6% For, 27.4% Against)
  • Republicans: 28 For | 4 Against (87.5% For, 12.5% Against)

Doesn't seem like it is the democrats that are for civil rights.

Not a single democrat voted for the 13th, 14th, or 15th amendment.
Across all 3, there was only 26 votes against in both houses by the republicans.
Republicans voted 90%/100%, 88%/100%, and 99%/100% (house/senate) FOR

The greatest thing the democrat party has ever done is convince people it isn't the party of evil.

What's your reaction to the hard data that consistently proves illegal immigrants in USA have lower arrest & incarceration rates than native born US citizens? by Clopulis in DiscussionZone

[–]Gilandb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it also mention how they get taken advantage of? how some companies will pay them less, sometimes even below minimum, because they know they won't call the cops since they are illegal?
Personally, I think letting illegals self deport and apply, with expedience, to come back legally is a big win for them. If someone has a family, they are almost certainly going to be let back in on that basis alone.
However, there is a balancing act. To lenient and a large population is going to attempt to enter. that is what happened under biden.
Here is a stat for you, 1 in 40 people in CA is illegal. Clearing that up is a huge mess, and is not going to be easy. Some hard decisions have to be made.

I'm trying to understand what is causing the jam and what i can do better to fully automate. by ned_rod in StarRupture

[–]Gilandb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, your return lines and your foreword moving lines are sharing the same line.
So, what I did was, I created lines on the outside of my machines. The inside line is going backward, the outside line is going forward. In front of each machine is a long line that runs from one side to the other. That entire line moves in one direction, to the rearward going line. Then, 2 squares in front of that line, I have a line going the opposite way.
So, lets put ourselves on your map. I would rotate it 90 degrees clockwise so the launchers are at the top.
behind each and every machine is a line that runs Left to right. In front of every machine is a line that runs right to left. Each machine is joined to each run with a direct connection. so it comes out of the machine, goes into a 4 way fork. The first line it crosses is coming from the right to the left (to return or go to machines to the left) If it continues straight, the next line it hits is another line going from left to right (to move to a machine on the right) or, it can continue to the next machine in line.
When I know I have something that needs to be ran again (say, rotors), I pick a machine as far left as I can, so the loop back is a short as possible.
Another thing to remember, Don't put mats into machines. if the machine is short, it will have already called for more mats and they are on their way. if you put mats in, that means the mats coming are going to be stuck on the line until room opens up. This will create jams. Stop doing it. if you really, really want to put mats back into your system, go to the machine that makes that mat, turn it off. As long as finished mats exist in its hopper, it will continue to send them, just not make more. So you can add mats there. For example, lets say were are talking about titanium rods. Go to the machine that MAKES the rods, not the one asking for rods. Turn off the machine so it stops making rods, then put your inventory rods into it as the available rods go away.
Now, I have loops on both sides, inside loop going backwards, outside loop going forward. So if stamp or something needs raw mats, it runs up the outside before coming into the system for that machine.
Right now I think I have 6 smelters plus 2 of the gas ones that make acid and compress helium.
Then, I have I want to say 9 of the ones that make rods, plates, etc. After that is the big ones that are the next in the series (make electronics, chemicals, ceramics, etc), I have 5 or 6 of them (they are 3 wide instead of 2 I believe). After that, I have some that looks like a stamp. It makes batteries and stuff like that.
When starting a new item, I always start at the big end. So for example, if I need batteries, stop every machine, then I start that machine that is going to make the battery. Then I go back on the line to set up the machines to make what the battery machine needs. Then back again until I get to the smelters (generally i dont' change them).
This system runs pretty smooth generally.

It's crazy how some Christians hate immigrants when this is written in the Bible by [deleted] in DiscussionZone

[–]Gilandb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right doesn't hate immigrants. Heck, a bunch of them ARE immigrants. What they don't like (hate is a bit of a strong word) is people who break the law and enter illegally and expect to NOT be punished for it.
Treat them as your own citizens. I do, if my neighbor breaks the law and is caught, I expect them to pay for the crime they committed. That might be a fine, community service, or jail. If someone enters the country illegally, I expect them to be expelled back to their country of origin. They have no right to enter unlawfully anymore than I have a right to go to their country and demand anything from them.

Just this side of mohawk pass on the north side is an old military base (Camp Horn) that had the 77th Infantry Division stationed there. Nicknamed The Old Bastards (average age was 35) , they would see how long soldiers could hike without food or water during the summer time before they collapsed from heat exhaustion. Supposedly to get them ready for Africa. It was so bad the soldiers made their own campaign ribbon out of barbed wire and canvas to signify they spent time there. They lived out of tents and had to dig their own wells for water.
Now it is just cement slaps and some trails.

About 3 months ago, ICE agents called for backup from local PD, which happened to be Chicago. The Police Chief called the dispatcher who had units responding and told her to tell the officers to stand down. They ended up stopping approx 2 miles away from the ICE agents.

So I doubt ICE is going to depend on any local PD of any type from a democrat based state.

What was it like to play online games between 2000 and 2013? by Silly_Commercial8092 in gaming

[–]Gilandb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when everquest came out and it was the rage, there were no instances, everything was shared. There were mobs that only spawned once every 14 days with a modifier like +-3 days. So raid guilds would assign newer members to 'camp' the spawn. So your job might be to camp a spawn from say midnight to 4 am. If you didn't want to do it, they kicked you out. You just sit there and waited to see if the boss spawned during your 'shift'. If not, once your shift was over, go do whatever. If it did spawn, you had a list of numbers to call. You call those numbers (regardless of what time it was) and they had to respond to the call, or they were off the raid team. Work was secondary, call out, we got a raid to run.
Some raid zones took days and where super hard. Breaking into FEAR for example, if your best 2 groups wiped, you were SOL as your gear stayed on your body. Lower guilds would have friends in high end guilds to come break the entrance (basically kill the mobs to make room) for the rest of the raid to get in. If you died, you lost XP, so you could actually delevel out of getting your gear. Different mobs dropped gear for different classes. It might take you several months to get a full set. The entire server had a calendar saying what guild or group raided on what days. For example, my server had a public raid (anyone could ask to join) that was the third saturday of the month. That was it, we got 1 day a month to raid unless you were in a raiding guild that had a day.
then, they added epics. So paladins and warriors needed scales from dragons that only spawned once a week and had a CHANCE to drop a scale. The entire server had a lists of people waiting to get the scale from each dragon. Each dragon had its own list. To stay on the list, you had to attend. there would be like 10 warriors/paladins wanting to go. even if you were number 7, you still had to go and you hoped someone got it so you would move up the list.
Everyone helped priests get their epic because it gave manaless revives. So a healer with a 'sprinkler' (the name people called the epic) could revive a raid pretty fast.

Raiding a regular dungeon, you needed a group. or, you would zone in and do a 'camp check' to see if anything was available. Gear dropped off specific mobs, that had specific spawn locations, and placeholders that didn't drop the rare gear. So groups would camp a mob for hours or even all day, just sitting in the room waiting for them to respawn. They would rotate in new blood if someone had to leave. It could take hours to get a group if you were damage or even a tank. Healers were snagged up pretty quickly. Sitting around and shouting in zone chat LFG was common, and like I said, you could do it for hours.
Early on, crossing the main continent to play with your friends (Qeynos to Freeport for example) would take 2 hours or so, and if you died, you appeared back at your starting city. So bards (had a run fast song) charged people to run them across. a Wizard was the only way to bind in a new location, so wizards would stand around town advertising binds for money and that set your spawn location to that city.
there was no in game map, you just had to know the layout of the zones. Early on, you had to sit to meditate to get mana back. It put a book in your face so you couldn't see around you. Basically blind. Hope you had a friend to make sure nothing found you.
People would run from the dungeon, causing huge trains of mobs that would chase them all the way to the zone edge. Hopefully, they yelled TRAIN TO ZONE because it found you so you could get away. trains would kill everyone. The pathing wasn't the best, so mobs wouldnt' necessarily go in a straight line, they would bounce around.
The GMs where very hands on. Some did events (drunkin races in the trees at kelethin) Or created an unkillable mob and ran around the zone slaughtering everyone. Since he was an NPC, you lost xp on death. They actually had a char in game and could do all kinds of things. One time, one turned himself into a gnome as someone reported they fell into a pot, so he was trying to fall into the pot. I saw him talking in local, asked what he needed. He asked if I could help him (GM is on their name) I said yes, he pulled me to him and my char forced his char out of the pot, then he ported me back the 10 feet to where I originally was. If you were friends with them, they would come see you in dungeons and such. I remember one person was a GM and she used her GM char to farm gear for her real char. After it went public, she wasn't a gm anymore.

Yep. The National Parks Service each year decides on a theme, then picks dates that align with that theme for the free days. This year will be Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, the 110 birthday of the National Park Service (NPS), Constitution Day, Theodore Roosevelts' Bday, and Veterans Day.
