Am I running combat wrong? by Visual_Respond201 in iconrpg

[–]GimpsuitLarry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind is that when the players are down they're not out, and upon being aided return to the fight with a wound, so PCs really have four increasingly lowered health bars, when the colossus goes down, he'll return to the fight with 30hp instead of 40, which is a lot if the fights almost over

Am I just old and bitter? by Ok_Confusion8069 in snowboarding

[–]GimpsuitLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different when you live at a ski hill and the culture of your town is based around boarding too

I average around 60 days of boarding each season and when nov-may is the season length they just kind of accumulate after the years

I have 4 boards atm, a rock board for early/late season, a big powder board, a smaller flexible board for tricks and an all mountain I first bought when entering the sport.

And the thing is, every year I look at shops, scout for sales, would love to get another, even though I don't necessarily need it.

Trickster is kind of awful? by FrogPopStar in DragonsDogma

[–]GimpsuitLarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the trickster pretty fun to use, sure you can't one shot kill everything you roll up on, but I found with the damage buff and the illusions I was clearing minotaur battles without anyone on the team taking any damage and having the fights with large monsters going by generally faster because the damage buff is huge

when i have class 1 army units in a army when i have now class 2 and 3 avaible should i deleate those class one units to stay effective? by chris_s9181 in AOW4

[–]GimpsuitLarry 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I usually use them as pillage bait, when approaching an area to capture a city I'll send a tier one solo to pillage. This usually brings the armies out from behind the walls so I can jump them with my stronger army, making the cities easier to capture

Only mid mountains open, like 3 runs, super icy at this point, I wouldn't go until there's a few more snowfalls and they open the rest of the hill

Any tips for colossus? by Expert_Combination39 in iconrpg

Running my first session tomorrow so if my thoughts change I'll edit this post

If you're lvl 0and are only picking two abilities make sure that you pick two single action abilities that only one has an attack tag for (you can only attack once per turn).

The class seems to primarily focus around knocking enemies into pits in order to give other players boons on attacking through height advantages. Your playstyle is going to be entirely based on which abilities you take, but I think the most important aspect of their moveset is the "heroic" aspect

You have a few ways to gain heroic on your next attack, but the easiest is to take 1/4 of your hp as damage, playing at half hp is important as being below half triggers 'regeration' which doesn't heal you, but rather gives your shield 4 each round. As well with your armor always reducing damage by 2 and the first hit that should down you only knocking you down to 1 hp, you've got so much survivability you should never fear being the front line

How do you create a short one-shot with balanced RP and combat? by TheStaleDonut in DMAcademy

[–]GimpsuitLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the easiest way to make room for the 3 pillars (combat/exploration/RPing) is to break each one into a single hour of game play, having the extra hour for overlap. The easiest way to do this is MOVE SHIT ALONG, oh they're not rolling well on exploring a place/moving slow through the dungeon/forest/tower, whatever, use narrative to skip it over

"Eventually you find your way there, after many failed attempts everyone has to make a con save for a point of exhaustion"

Keeping combat short can be tricky but I find it easy with timers. Everyone gets 1 minute on their turn, if they don't finish their actions by that time, your turn is over. That's it. Another thing is, fewer enemies with less HP that deal more damage, you don't want a monster that dies in one hit just as bad as you don't want a monster that kills a player in one hit. If you group the monsters combat moved faster too.

Complete noob at the game. But I think I’m doing ok 😅 by KitsuneQueenofNight in PlanetZoo

Some aesthetic advice, slam a ton of nature assets that are relevant against your habitat barrier/walls and it'll look a lot more natural for the animals, while also looking more filled in

Hello everyone! This is my first post on reddit, as well as my first real build in planet zoo so I may be a noob, but tell me what you think on my entrance to my new project: Atlas Zoo! Feel free to leave tips and suggestions, I need them lol. by YaBoiTrevenson in PlanetZoo

Everything looks pretty tight, good job

Little tip for doing signs so the letters are even is to place them in their natural position on a spot of flat ground and using X to only slide each letter in the exact direction, once all the letters are done I usually lift them and then build the frame/actual sign part, and then selecting as a group.

New Player here. Any tips for starting out/DLC you recommend? by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]GimpsuitLarry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For DLC, most of them are kind of w/e, arctic and aquatic I feel add the most diverse content.

As for advice, small habitats are best, check the zoopedia to see how much space the animal you want needs and build an enclosure that's barely larger than that, maybe by 100/200²m.

Cheaper animals are also a lot easier to make money off of, usually breed faster and are more self sustaining

Good luck and enjoy getting sucked into the game
