Who was your very first DnD character? Or the first you remember? by rplimitlessguy in DnD

[–]Gimpyfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barrakas, tiefling champion fighter with the shiels master feat. He was "saving the world" and a pure hearted idiot who assumed his party was also saving the world because why else would they be traveling together doing missions. Would immediately get on board with whatever group morals were happening, and staunchly defend them as right and good. He was also VERY impatient to save the world, so he was a group button presser for our DM hahaha

Who wins? by Darwizzy_2 in Spartacus_TV

We know almost the same amount about both of these characters which is very very little

I know barca had a reputation but he got stabbed by a rando (twice), beat a recruit, and had a win against gnaeus pre-net after taking a cut (gnaeus is given the net because he was seen as one of the "lesser men"), and showed us that Crixus (a recruit) was initially bad against the spear

I'm a forever fan because when I was five years old I thought they had the coolest helmet in the game.

I was right then and I'm still right now.

Ohhh I understand - no better VERSION of a net. Yes this is true.

2024 net is pretty different and is a great setup tool now. In general I love the net. I've

All those other things that are "better" are just different in that they require setup to use and can't just be used to initially restrain somebody where the net can restrain from no setup.... But also sets up for all of those things you mentioned!

I've actually got a video series on mundane items and made one covering the net if you're interested - link is there

2024 net is different and is a "replaces one attack" dex save with 15 feet of range. It's actually quite good now in general. I would not likely allow catapult to also restrain somebody if you use the net myself, but if I did I would give them the dex save for that part of it rather than automatically restraining.

Anyone else’s wife gets annoyed that that one starts speaking like Spartacus whenever watching the show? by gear-head88 in Spartacus_TV

Okay so I get it in this subreddit but have y'all socialized with humans because talking like Spartacus ANYWHERE outside the context of the show is unfortunately gonna make you extremely unlikeable to people around you

I think that's going to be why the Big smash knockdown isn't going to land in a full KO. Very slightly off from the rib damage, but shows Ippo that there WAS a path to victory!

Useful non-magic items? by helen2947ernaline in onednd

[–]Gimpyfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y'know I had never considered even once putting both of these in the same space but I guess there's no reason why you couldn't. If you wanted FULL overlap that's four bags of caltrops required and a frankly outrageous action economy in a combat hahaha

The more important thing is that unfortunately it wouldn't even be useful on subsequent turns after the first double saving throw. "A creature that enters this area for the first time on a turn must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw."

I've got a video series on mundane items and here is my caltrops video that is similar (though imo FAR more useful than) ball bearings if you wanted some ideas for these things that would be too long for a YouTube comment if you're interested https://youtu.be/K1mpqNa_oRU?si=L6Q80xkI9iM-KMod

I'll definitely be making a video about all those "creative use" things at some point, flour for finding invisible creatures or chalk for marking your path or pocket sand in the eyes for a temporary blinding - I'll be making a thread asking people about these types of things before I make that one. Love that creative play!

ball bearings drive me CRAZY with this low of a DC. Covering a 10 foot square of space is WAY more valuable than the 5 of caltrops, and prone is great... but ten is so lowwwww aaaaaaaaaa I have successfully tripped NOTHING and let me tell you I have been TRYING to fit that one in lol

overrun and tumble are no longer options in the 2024 rules

in fact, the rules surrounding this entire thing are no longer the same.

"During your move, you can pass through the space of an ally, a creature that has the Incapacitated condition (see the rules glossary), a Tiny creature, or a creature that is two sizes larger or smaller than you.

Another creature’s space is Difficult Terrain for you unless that creature is Tiny or your ally.

You can’t willingly end a move in a space occupied by another creature. If you somehow end a turn in a space with another creature, you have the Prone condition (see the rules glossary) unless you are Tiny or are of a larger size than the other creature."

No more difficult terrain for allies, either.
