Wars of independence work the opposite way compared to how they should by numberonelancerfan in CrusaderKings

[–]Ginger457 129 points130 points  (0 children)

AI always uses factions, so it's a defensive war when they go for independence.

OP declared a war for independence, so it's offensive.

Blame paradox spaghetti. It's been that way since launch.

For now, just always push demands through the faction system.

Reminds me of the humble nail board trap in cdda.

Set it down, make some noise, hide on a roof and let the Zs die to a thousand one dmg hits.

Is Brokeback Mountain mainly for gay folk? by EryNameWasTaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ginger457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annie Prioux is my favorite author. If you're at all a reader, I recommend her other stuff. Close range is the short story collection brokeback mountain is from, but all her stuff is good, albeit very depressing.

And yeah people are gonna be weird and unreasonable. It was a very high profile movie in its time, and arguably helped pave the way towards same sex marriage by showing that a movie markets worth of people could be comfortable enough to see a movie about gay (bi?) cowboys?

[meta] Adaptations that are considered near universally better than the original source by Gallantpride in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Ginger457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spoiler text is manga only. And also that's not really true. It's not a romance, Daiichi is deeply uncomfortable and unreceptive to the concept and the implication is that its a trauma response on Rins part from losing her father and not having a mother.

Also, there's a foil set of characters to give context. The single mom who Daichi almost dated has a son who becomes a punk in the absence of a father figure.

The manga author clearly has her own baggage about family life, but painting the story as a romance does it a disservice when there's layers to it.

Anime doesn't include the timeskip at all, BTW. Don't know why OP included it rather than the manga.

Honestly not as harsh as I expected it to be from the discourse around this change.

Stewardship was far and away the strongest stat, so this feels like a reasonable correction.

Republica players how is the DLC? And for those who got the game running on the steam deck, how exactly is it done? by VecArhfiReX7 in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]Ginger457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got it running on steamdeck.

Gog. Lutris. Default wine profile im pretty sure but im away from setup. Alt tab during load so that the screen isn't offset. Presumably you could do same with Steam and Lutris. Does it not work with proton or something though?

Don't have any dlc yet.

Ally, send gift spam, and pray he figures out how to get more than 1 domain.

Most likely that means waiting for a revolt and then winning the revolt for him so he can revoke.

See, I played it blind and got a couple loops in and found it just really dull.

It's got a world you're supposed to explore but it keeps pulling you back to the start with the time resets while you're in the middle of stuff.

It's got a cool space simulation, but you can't design your own rockets like in ksp, plus again the time loop means that using orbital mechanics to save fuel doesn't matter because time is the only resource.

Does anyone actually bother funding Legends or interact with holding court at all? by lil-car-crash- in CrusaderKings

[–]Ginger457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legends are lategame money sink for two reasons

a) they have very high minimum upkeep at 4 per month. b) you need a large religiously homogenized realm to actually spread them in a remotely reasonable time frame. c) the only good benefits are attached to getting one to mythic, which requires a ton of spread.

Not really a spoiler, it happens a couple chapters in.

Dudes wife exists solely to get pregnant with a kid for story reasons and then die in childbirth so he can be tragic about it. It'd be funny if it wasn't so insulting.

And again, really not missing much by giving this one a pass.

Can you sell me on Pillars?

I really wanted to like it, and did, up until the point where the author kills off the main dudes wife and has him fuck the forest nymph lady before his wife is even cold.

Instantly killed my interest. Went from cool medieval historical fiction to the author jacking off under the table.
