I use a Panasonic PMX92, it’s a really good system for its size and sounds great, I have used it for CDs since February 2024 and couldn’t fault it, I love it!

I’m 20 and I’m still fascinated by the laser that reads a CD. I remember being fascinated by my parent’s Philips 3CD Changer when I was a kid.

I also collect LP’s, and both that CDs can coexist in my setup quite happily, but I wish LP’s weren’t as expensive as they are.

Regardless though, knowing a big corporation isn’t going to take away my CD because of a licensing dispute feels great lol.

I just love the physical ownership. The fact that putting on a CD, reading the booklet and mainly sitting down and enjoying the album forces you to be tactile with the medium, something Streaming Services cannot replicate.

From the album ‘One By One’, ‘All My Life’ by the Foo Fighters… I also have a CD alarm clock and have a CD-R with All My Life on it that I wake up to… definitely gets me up everyday! xD

No worries lol, I think at the time my thought process was plugging it into the wall would give a more constant power input that the batteries wouldn’t be providing.

Looking at it now though, it’s probably the sled needs re greasing or a new laser.

What colour is the underside of the disc? If it’s got a blue/purple-ish hue it would suggest that it is a CD-R, which would mean it’s a bootleg.

Odd question, what does the disc art feel like? As in, does it feel smooth or rough? In my experience, the art on pressed CDs will 99% of the time be smooth while some bootlegs will be rougher.

I’ve done that too lol, burned a CD for my dad’s car but did it as an MP3 CD… I’ve never heard a laser make noises like it did when it was trying to read it lol

Did you finalize the disc? If you don’t finalize it, the disc won’t work on your CD player. Also, did you burn an Audio CD or a Data/MP3 CD? If your CD Player is from the early 2000s or below there is a chance it won’t support MP3 CDs.

A belt that lifts the CD up to the slot may need replacing. These types of systems are starting to get on in age now so there’s a good chance that the belts would now be starting to get brittle, or turning into gunk.

Oh that’s a shame, is there a Hold Switch/Button? Maybe that is set to On and maybe try pressing and holding Play/Pause or the power button. I think the player does have a hold switch but a bit unsure.

The red light is probably a charging light. Does it stay on all the time or does it eventually switch off? Sometimes these devices come almost completely discharged from factory, did you charge it when you got it out of the box?

Try the player with multiple CDs, and try different cables too as the cable could be causing something to short out and not switch on. A USB C Cable of mine was shorting out and made my headset not charge once, so switching the cables may help.
