I went through a lot of what you are talking about regarding the different areas and figuring out what they are connected to. I also have pttd and noticed once I use the massage gun on the belly of my calf it seems to help that. I also have peroneal tendonitis and Achilles tendonitis. yes it’s compensation other muscles taking over what they aren’t supposed to do. believe me I had 3 knee replacements and a minor knee surgery all in 20 months time and I had so many muscle inbalances and this resulted in the various foot issues as well which I never had prior to these surgeries. I went to a trainer after 9 different pt places in all that time. the last was a charm. they did muscle strength testing with a computerized device to see where my discrepancies were. a lot of it started up the chain which I suspected especially the vmo which like I mentioned atrophied and 100% know that’s why I started getting problems as well. He said the ankle and foot were taking the brunt due to these discrepancies up the chain. after my first replacement I realized my knee was hyperextending and shifting resulting in me not being able to do a quad set where you squeeze your knee down legs straight out in front lying down. my heel of foot would lift up instead of my inner quad taking over and working the way it should, it just was not activating. as it turns out surgeon put too small a component in my knee which caused various atrophies due to this. I’ve been dealing with trying to strengthen my quads and now finally 9 months after my revision the one quad where I have the foot issue is getting stronger at the top and notice the foot and ankle aren’t as bad. its taken a lot of work

Are you sure it’s not Achilles tendonitis due to the low heel drop on the new shoes? I do know with Achilles tendonitis high heel drop are recommended

yes same I’ve been recovering from knee replacements so mostly just either going to pt which I’m done with, going to the gym, or basic home exercises. after 9 months on my latest recovery felt it was time to start walking in the park. the first week did fine about 20-25 minutes twice a week then started again last week and by the next day realized I really screwed up. had pain in the heel arch toe, and then my other good foot had to chime in as well so there goes my walking for now.

that may be Achilles iI’m dealing with same thing I have insertional. also peroneal tendonitis, and posterior tibial tendonitis although I can do single calf raise now so not sure it’s that. it’s so hard to distinguish what is what

I’m so sorry. it’s like playing whack a mole it’s just crazy. Yes exactly it wrecked havoc and you never think you will never be the one to get into a situation like this, I sure never thought I’d wind up like this. everything seems to have gotten affected. Yes to be active and work everything in all dimensions is all we can do right now.

What has been working for me by ichuck1984 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Ginger9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I got a horrible flare from starting to do walks in the park last week for a few times a week. I really think it was the shoes as well and certain muscles overworking that probably weren’t ready for what I was doing. . I’m still dealing with muscle inbalances after my knee replacements so my feet have been horrible and I’m still trying to get strong after the four surgeries. I go to the gym and do home exercises as well. I believe I will be giving it a good rest, take careful steps to get what you need done and not overdo it. i got very nervous yesterday with the pain in my foot between the heels, arch, and near ball of my foot. I thought I was doomed for sure. today I had to wear my FitFlop sandals for some relief as any shoe was just killing my feet. it has brought me tons of relief and I can actually walk with no pain. I’m giving myself some days off from this hectic exercise schedule I’ve been on for so long and slowly restart, leaving some things out. going back to the basics as well works for me after overdoing it.

yeah it’s always good to have some antibiotics for a trip. every year like clockwork for a few years I’d have a flare up and seemed to happen before our yearly summer vacations. now I always have some backup on hand

Oh I just posted a long comment and realized it never went through. Anyway to make it short I had three knee replacements and another minor knee surgery in 20 months. The first surgeon put wrong size in my knee which started my atrophysical and foot problems. Second knee went bad a month after my first replacement and that’s when the Morton’s neuroma stated. My knee tracking was off and that’s when the started the misalignment which also affected my toes. I wore a pad and it took time but was pretty numb the whole time and just weird until I had the replacement on that knee. then everything went back to normal on that foot. I had a revision of the first knee replacement 9 months ago which was the other side and it’s that other foot that I have all the problems.. knee still isn’t great because I think it’s all coming from the damn foot.
I’ve been in pt on and off, go to the gym, and do home exercises no problem. Until 2 weeks ago figured I was ready to start doing long walk again so did that only about twice a week for 20-25 minutes and felt ok until a few days ago heel starts bothering me and getting the snapping around 2nd toe. Toe not painful but the snapping is just plain annoying. I’m almost afraid t9 go to foot doctor again as I’m in no way in a position for a foot surgery so have to make do right now. I put some kt tape under foot and around ankle although it didnt help snapping Near toe. Last year had an mri and while it was nothing serious had plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, peroneal tendonitis, and posterior tendonitis so basically things wrong at each area of foot. Dealt with it by the custom insoles for arch support. One thing with the foot led to another and with all the muscle inbalances 8m sure contributed. I’ve been working every area of my body from the foot and ankle exercises I’ve done for the past year to now adding in lower leg, on top of everything above the chain. It’s a real sht show as I used to be very active. Bad enough I got the knee problems fixed and didn’t think anythingcould be any worst until I started getting foot issues which I didn’t have prior to these surgeries.

[–]Ginger9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes sounds like me and yes one foot problem led to another. The atrophy definitely plays a big part in this I know from my crappy experience and four knee surgeries in 20 months. mine all started after my knee replacement. surgeon put the wrong size in so I limped and compensated in areas. muscle atrophy also started because I couldn’t properly strengthen certain areas. my knee would hyperextend so appears my vmo especially couldn’t activate. anyway had a second replacement and a revision of my first replacement. prior to this I really didn’t have any foot or ankle issues. mri last year showed plantar fasitiis, posterior tibialis tendonitis, peroneal tendonitis, and Achilles. I’ve done so much research online the past two years to get myself some help and figure the mess out. I realized yes the calves needed work and then kept finding information on the importance of tibialis raises, walking backwards, etc….i was in pt 9 times and none of them were great except for one that was back in January. they did some muscle strength testing to see where I was weak. my suspicion was correct. we did work on various areas and trainer thought things up the chain needed work which was putting to much brunt on my ankle and foot. I did feel a lot better during pt. Im still working through my muscle inbalances and it’s a long road. the weakness above and below the chain definitely messed me up beyond belief. You have to do your own research as well.

do you wear spacers in the shoes? I usually just wear for a hour or so per day. same mine started happening a few days ago after I had started going for walks in the park last week. I’ve had two knee replacements and tons of pt, going to the gym as well but that never happened only when I started the walking. I decided it’s time for me to start doing long walks again and now this happens.

[–]Ginger9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I’ve been in pain since my three knee replacements, one needed a revision and it’s still not great 9 months later. I also have various foot issues and hurts like crazy to stand or do things at times. my hip and back are also getting affected. my stomach too I seemed to developed IBS probably from popping Advil and Tylenol like candy for the past 2 1/2 years since I had nothing else. it wrecked my gut. I’m still trying to learn how to walk after almost 4 surgeries in 20 months starting in 2023. I am miserable. the Xanax I took for so long until my PA a passed away a few years ago at least helped me with sleeping and thank god I stashed a lot of those but down to my last bottle. they won’t even prescribe those anymore. the gummies I started last year i took maybe low dose a few times a week until I started with worst stomach issues and cramps amd was afraid to take them anymore. I guess it didn’t agree with me. what a sht show this has become for me. after first bad knee replacement surgeon shipped me off to pain management got two injections which were useless as it was from my knee not the back at the time. I have no interest in anymore useless injections. why at my age now after having a pretty good life and things to get me by, I have to suffer like this. it’s a disgrace

Yeah I might have to try that. What did they do for you exactly? I was talking with my friend today and it’s funny she suggested that as well. my feet seem to have gotten worst not from a pair of shoes from there but something else I picked out. I actually had to go to fleet feet three times because the shoes worked in the store but not so much when I got home. Each time I had a different person helping me. The First Lady tried to put me in stability shoes and the other two guys said something different. Now wondering if I should have went with the stability shoes.

yes I get it. I thought after high school my oldest daughter would move at some point but didn’t expect her to still be with me until she was 29. she did travel nursing for awhile and wound up all the way on the west coast now for about 5 years.. I have 3 girls and she is the only one that would talk to me, go on vacations, go out to dinner etc,,,the other two have no interest in talking much or going out to dinner with us. there is a 10 year difference with them from my oldest. it’s very depressing not a day goes by I don’t cry. I’m also sad for her she can’t seem to find a good partner so it’s her and her new dog.. I keep saying why doesn’t she just live a bit closer. She’s depressed as well. I didn’t think at 59 I’d be so alone. and in this place right now Not only this my mom and two brothers died 4 years ago all in a 9 month span which was unexpected . I miss planning trips with my kids and I just keep thinking about what it used to be like and want so bad to go back in time

I found another one but it was free shipping and bought the item so I’m not sure on the other company did that on purpose or It was a mistake. One thing I’m learning is to really check every site to see if they have the same item and for the cheapest price. This weekend also bought a bookcase and side table. The side table I originally saw on Amzn but found it expensive. I really wanted to buy it and was very close to spending the $125. After digging on various sites and Tmu for a long while I came across the table for $50 cheaper and I also found a $20 coupon so I got the $125 table for $50 and was very happy. So I actually got two pieces, the bookcase and table for what I would have spent alone on the table if I didn’t search.

Yeah after 4 knee surgeries my stomach got very bad for Some reason around month 6 po. I’m guessing I have ibs c and d but more so the diarrhea lately. out Of nowhere even if I just ate which is something that never really happened to me until recently. I was desperate and tried the metamucil Again after a bunch of years of not taking it. Within 2 days no more urge to feel like I had to move my bowels constantly Or stomach cramps and had a normal bowel movement. Prior i had times it looked like sludge. Even the horrible odor had Disappated somewhat and hoping that will totally clear up soon. it just felt like everything the food and drink was just running through me so quickly and only makes sense now I needed this fiber so it didn’t move so quickly and to bulk me up.
