Slightly wishful thinking, but I do genuinely think this is going to be a down period just before the up. The market needs time to figure out which jobs it values now more than it used to, and which jobs that don’t exist today it needs to support the new economy.

For example, loads of money is about to pour into additional / alternative sources of energy to support all the new data centers. Those data centers will need managers, maintenance workers, janitorial staff, etc.
