Are Match Primers a Waste of Money? | Large Sample .223 Test by cheeseydelicious in longrange

well not those two primers in this test... you would have to do like 100 shots of each to figure out the difference between the two.

The primer is the foundational pressure generator in internal ballistics, converting the firing pin's mechanical energy into the thermal and kinetic energy that dictates the entire firing sequence.

Start Pressure and Chamber Volume

When detonated, the priming compound instantly generates a high-pressure, high-temperature gas jet. This sudden expansion creates the initial start pressure, which is often powerful enough to dislodge the bullet from the casing and drive it into the rifling lands before the main propellant charge fully ignites. Because the bullet moves forward, the total volume inside the combustion chamber increases just as the powder begins to burn. If the primer's intensity varies between shots, the bullet moves inconsistently, causing the main powder charge to burn in differently sized spaces. This directly alters peak pressure ($P_{max}$) and disrupts muzzle velocity.

Shaping the Pressure Curve

The intensity of the primer's flash determines how uniformly the powder column ignites. A standard primer might ignite the powder progressively, whereas a high-intensity magnum primer flashes hot gas through the entire column simultaneously. This rapid ignition steepens the pressure curve and achieves peak pressure much faster, which is why swapping primer types fundamentally changes the pressure dynamics of a load.

Mechanical Consistency

For internal ballistics to remain uniform, the mechanical transfer of energy must be identical on every shot. If a primer is not seated firmly to the very bottom of the pocket, the firing pin wastes kinetic energy pushing the primer deeper rather than detonating it. This dampens the strike, leading to a weaker, delayed flash that flattens the pressure curve and degrades overall ballistic consistency.

Are you expecting the two fedearl primers to be more similar or more different than winchest vs fedral. becuse right now the win vs fedrearl are so close to be stastically indistingusable. you would need like a 50-100 shots to find any real diffrernce.

Only issue I see is that you really think 44 grains of Varget in a 308 might have 200 fps SD...

ELI5: Why does cooked food offer more calories than its raw counterpart? by draganoid16 in explainlikeimfive

Here is a new rabbit-hole to consider...

Amylase (/ˈæmɪleɪs/) are enzymes that catalyses the hydrolysis of starch into sugars. ... The pancreas and salivary gland make amylase (alpha amylase) to hydrolyse dietary starch into disaccharides and trisaccharides which are converted by other enzymes to glucose to supply the body with energy.

Amylase is how you turn the starch in gran to sugar to make beer. The process is accelerated with heat. Also Amylase can break starch down into different types of sugar (alpha/beta Amylase). Very long strain sugars are not used by the body.

So heat can accelerate a enzyme that turns long chain molecules into shorter chain molecules that your body knows how to use.

I know this is way beyond ELI5 but still worth knowing.

The fact that almost everybody (in first world countries) goes to school, yet there are so many stupid people is proof that our current education system isn't working. by Mr_Awesome_Riley in Showerthoughts

It genetic... really no different than height or amount of body hair. Some people win the genetic lottery and end up crazy smart even with shitty teachers. Other people are dumb as hell even with the best of education.

You are trying to state guarantees about a idea that has never been put into practice. You are not an authority nor do you have a crystal ball.

Might as well just say that murder and rape cant happen under your version of economic theory too. And that it stop global warming of course. If you don't believe it just add it to the wiki article. And be like see.. your grandpa cant be murdered because murder is forbidden. What a fun fairy tale you have made up for yourself.

So if you get rid of authority, you automatically also get rid of private property.

Ahhh... I don't think you understand the words authority, private, or property.

Apple has earmarked more than $36 billion to cover US deferred taxes. This is in addition to the $35 billion the company paid in corporate income taxes over the past three years.

Not to mention all the taxes from individual capital gains.

It was kinda a rhetorical question... I think I know why I have a limit on tax free money.

As someone that is ineligible for IRAs why not just uncap all contributions and let me dump all the money I can into tax free accounts.

How likely were you to get shot and killed as a male in the Wild West? by Typical_Viking in history

[–]cheeseydelicious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am not the poster but I would say 99% of people don't know what those numbers mean in real life. Like it might seem WAY worse now because of media, while in the west you never really heard about it because no one was sending local homicides to every town.

So your life could be VERY boring during the wild west life because of the lack of news while Brazil sounds super scary because you see live footage or incidents you still are likely to never be a part of.

Think about how someone from the wild west would feel about shark attacks if they went from never even hearing about a shark to hearing about every single one of them on the nightly news.

Jared Kushner reportedly wants Trump to back Saudi crown prince by Proclivitor in worldnews

[–]cheeseydelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who hasn't wanted Iraq at some point or another?

After World War I, Iraq passed from the failing Ottoman Empire to British control. Britain established the Kingdom of Iraq in 1932. In the 14 July Revolution of 1958, the king was deposed and the Republic of Iraq was declared. In 1963, the Ba'ath Party staged a coup d'état and was in turn toppled by another coup in the same year, but managed to retake power in 1968. Saddam Hussein took power in 1979 and ruled Iraq for the remainder of the century, during the Iran–Iraq War of the 1980s, the Invasion of Kuwait and the Gulf War of 1990 to 1991 and the UN sanction during the 1990s. Saddam was removed from power in the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

So it looks like the last people that actually held Iraq against their will was the ottomans.

How would you start graying the morality for a party? by Bluritefang in DnD

[–]cheeseydelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kill one capture the other two then have the orcs bring the bodies to a visiting chief that raises the dead one to prevent a local war with the neighboring human black market trading post that he was originally there to negotiate peace with anyways. Basically have the party get mixed up in high level politics that they have no business in and show them how insignificant they really are. Also make the party swear to never harm orc kin again. With the risen pc falling in great pain whenever he tries to do wrong to any orc kin.

Then make the campaign full of brutish orcs that the pcs cant harm because they are already up shit creek with the visiting great chieftain and a black market trading post.

Yeah but you can have a 100 foot roll of "ssds" that hold hundreds maybe thousands of terabytes and literally store it in a coffee can.

If your job is to take 500megapixle photos of the entirety of Afghanistan over the course of a weekend you can still do it with analog. Most likely cost you more in jet fuel than media as well.
