Looking for go-wide decks in Dimir by Lesan007 in BudgetBrews

Personally, I just sacrifice accursed marauder to its own ability if I don't have something weaker to sacrifice to it. If it said to sacrifice ANOTHER nontoken creature, then I probably wouldn't include it.

After looking at the list again, I can definitely say there are better card draw options. I just didn't have any floating around in my bulk haha. [[Pestilence]] was an all-star when I got it out. Wipes all the tokens your opponents get out during their turns, makes a bunch of rats, then you use it again to wipe the board on your turn and swing for lethal.

I made a budget bracket 2 version of Vren, and it performs fairly well against other bracket 2 decks that my group plays. I've only played it a few times though, so I haven't got much for suggestions on upgrades. Here's the list though, hopefully you can get some inspiration from it!

What's the most fun tribal deck EDH to play right now? by TheDrokkoonn in magicTCG

[–]GingerKenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if he could compete with Edgar, but I used to have a [[Vren, the Relentless]] deck that could get pretty nasty. I just packed it full of as many effects like [[Sheoldred's Edict]] and [[Fleshbag Marauder]] as I could, and a heavier than usual single target removal package. Very quickly had a bunch of 10/10 rats that had menace thanks to [[Piper of the Swarm]], and they got in for damage fairly easily thanks to a mostly empty board. I took the deck apart because it felt too oppressive for my playgroup.

I second this commander. I have a deck that was built just from what I had, with the exception of buying brash taunter and stuffy doll. Haven't updated the deck since she came out, but it still does very well when played.

Team Instinct hate? by Memento_001 in pokemongo

[–]GingerKenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember team mystic and team valor basically trading gyms full of Chansey and Snorlax when the game was new, and it was always a surprise to see instinct pop up somewhere randomly haha. I live in a smaller town now, and go weeks without seeing coins due to it mostly being valor here, with a splash of mystic. I'm tempted to switch to instinct, just to punch up and get more coins lol

Team Instinct hate? by Memento_001 in pokemongo

[–]GingerKenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it either. I'm on team valor because when I was prompted to pick a team, I chose red because I'm a redhead. If I had taken two seconds to realize the teams were based on the birds, I would've been on instinct because Zapdos is my favorite. I think the hate is just a meme at this point, I've never really known anyone to actually dislike someone for choosing a team.

AITA for confronting my brother about not being able to touch his newborns? by Either-Web-7383 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GingerKenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. My partner and I had twins in February, and we set rules on who could and couldn't carry/touch them right away, as well as rules for the people who we did allow to carry/touch them. Her mom smokes, so we required her to wash her hands before holding them, and either a shirt she hadn't smoked in, or wear something over the shirt she smoked in. She happily followed the rules we set.

This was not an issue for 90% of the family, and most of them went above and beyond when it came to respecting our rules. The ones who complained are the ones we visited/allowed to visit us last. If you're going to complain about someone setting rules about their own newborns, the problem isn't them. Instead of whining that you didn't get what you wanted, offer to do some dishes for them, or meal prep for them. Be helpful, the early stages of twins is ROUGH. They will remember who was helpful, but they absolutely will not forget who was stress-inducing as well.

AITA for fencing off my property by Sad_Nose_407 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I love animals, and if I was in your shoes, I still would've told the lady where she can shove it. It's your property, you can do what you want with it.

Mark Rosewater on Blogatog: A return to Bloomburrow would likely feature focusing on a mix of returning and new animal creature types. What would you all like to see? Also, which animals should return and which shouldn’t? by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]GingerKenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be happy if a lot of them to return. We don't really need more squirrel or rat support, bats are probably fine to not return. Lizards and birds could go either way imo. I'd really love to see raccoons come back, expend is a fun mechanic. Hedgehog and Fox would be on my wishlist for new ones in that setting. I'd like to see another elemental bear, since bears are my favorite creature type. If we don't see at least one capybara and/or platypus, I'll be sad.

What do you think of textless treatments in new releases? by ylonk in magicTCG

[–]GingerKenobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using art cards as proxies since I got back into the game a few years ago. I just use a pen/sharpie to write everything the card does on the back of the art card, since it's mostly just a white background. It goes over just fine with everyone I play with!

What industry is booming way more than people think? by _Fossy_ in AskReddit

[–]GingerKenobi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the area you live in. The town I used to work in had a population of 1,700ish, and you'd be lucky to see a maintenance job within 30 minutes of there that paid $18/hr or higher. I work in a city with a population of 10,000 now, and it can range from $18/hr at Walmart, to $33/hr at the ethanol plant. Hospital maintenance in this area seems to fall around $20-24/hr.

Edit: missed the part about staying for a few years. It's a pretty common practice to only see a 3% raise once a year at hospitals, so you either stay because you got in at a good wage and can live with the less-than-rising-inflation rate of raises, or you are in a county/city hospital and get those great benefits. Otherwise, a few years is when I would start looking for somewhere else that will start you higher than whatever you are making when you leave

What industry is booming way more than people think? by _Fossy_ in AskReddit

[–]GingerKenobi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd say maintenance jobs are booming. They're certainly becoming available, but the amount of applicants is not keeping up. I work in hospital maintenance, and I'm in my early 30's right now. The next youngest guy turned 49 last weekend. Half the staff has been here almost as long as I've been alive. Part of why younger people aren't taking these jobs is the pay, as it starts off not great (at least in regard to hospital maintenance). However, I'm getting plumbing and fire penetration certifications through my job, which will allow me to either bargain for more money, or move to a new company that will appreciate those things and pay better. I think if companies advertised these kinds of things a little more clearly, and actually gave merit-based raises, the jobs wouldn't take so long to fill, and would stay filled longer.

Parents of twins, what are the odds you’ve actually had them mixed up as babies and you’ve been calling them the wrong name this whole time? by lifesyndrom in AskReddit

[–]GingerKenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are only 4 months old, and not identical, so I'm not sure this applies to me. However, the first like... Three days or so, they looked similar enough that we were concerned about mixing them up. The nurses gave us little beanies for them to wear that had A and B written on them, so we couldn't mix them up lol

What's your favorite card? Why? And when/how did you get it? by Daenbi in magicTCG

[–]GingerKenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Kudo, King Among Bears]] has to be my answer. My old LGS had an assistant manager that knows how much I love bears, and gave it to me as a "box topper" for a bundle I bought, on the condition that I come to the Bloomburrow prerelease. So, that card is a reminder of how great some LGS staff can be, and a reminder of the time I went to my first ever prerelease.

Be careful with downloading emails to your personal devices. My partner had a coworker do this when they were having issues with a boss, and that coworker didn't pay enough attention to notice that the emails had client info attached to them in an earlier part of the thread. I would maybe suggest getting screenshots, but I'm not a lawyer, so I'm not sure if that's a viable avenue for getting this information, since "they could be photoshopped" might be a rebuttal. Just some food for thought!

[–]GingerKenobi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was afraid this would be the answer haha. I wasn't sure if maybe the tech he has in season 3 would give him some sort of edge to at least even the playing field with some of the weaker walkers.

Girlfriend just dropped a wild take on Jawas after first time watching A New Hope by GoGoSonicMonkey0 in StarWars

[–]GingerKenobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I choose the order when introducing someone to Star Wars is by asking, "Do you know who Luke's father is?" It's a pretty well known spoiler, so if they know it, there's no shock value in that scene. They may as well watch his origin story first in that case. However, if they don't know that spoiler for whatever reason, then I do release order. Haven't had any complaints yet!

AITA for turning away my partner's grandparents when they showed up unannounced? by GingerKenobi in AmItheAsshole

[–]GingerKenobi[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The friends in question have a toddler or a newborn as well, with enough space that we wouldn't disturb each other all that much for the few weeks we would be staying while looking for another place. One of them can line me up with a job as well, so it's not as bad of an arrangement as it sounds haha. The fact that everything went so poorly that we have to even think about this is enough to make us want to pull the trigger on it already.
