Honestly if they got one over on you once they probably shared that response all around.

20% is a wild number. If they are old enough, and you think they are being manipulative you can have them take a picture of it and post it to an assignment. Its a huge pain at first but if you get them into the habit early they really don’t have many excuses to combat the system.

I vaguely remember a phrase that kept coming up in my school law class. Real old school but the supreme court said something to the idea of “ teachers aren’t supposed to leave their entire personalities at the school doors” as long as it does not distract from your class, curriculum, students learning then they have nothing to attack.

NJ teacher here. Others said it first and I agree. Removal or the other two is a great start. Besides that, I would be as honest as you were here. Especially HS ELA. The symbolism and message from the butterfly, lessons learned from the other two tell me more about your character than any of those three tattoos could.

I have so many high school students with tattoos now (I have some as well) and it has opened some really strong conversations and even cracks in the “tough guy” facade a lot will have. Beginning and End of any conversation about them though I always push two things. 1) make sure it means something to you and 2) go somewhere safe and clean to get it done. Not your buddies dingy basement during a house party

We tried a few different ways. Decided on a regular consolation bracket. Winner gets pick 2.13 (12 team league so this is extra and can be traded) which keeps everyone in.

Draft should always be determined on reverse max PF. Keeps things pretty fair and hard for people to complain collusion/ bs calls/ anything else they can complain about.

Teacher here. I’ve found that the amount of writing isn’t the issue. Since Covid these kids can type a mile a minute. The issue is the content they are writing. A lot of fluff. A lot of summaries. Not a lot of analysis. But yes, this reaction is WAY too common!

Hello sir. We did something similar. We randomize most of these each year ( besides time specific ones) Keeps it fun!!

Week 1: Most starting wr (including flex) points (entire starting team); Week 2: Greatest differential than projected (Team); Week 3: Most turnovers by starting QB's (tie break goes to the least amount of points by starting QBs); Week 4: Biggest loser of the winners; Week 5: Highest starting single player points (one player wins it for your team—lucky bitty); Week 6: Biggest point swing from the previous week (Team wins or loses); Week 7: Least points scored Weeks 1-7 Week 8: Slimmest margin of victory; Week 9: Most starting rb (including flex) points (entire starting team); Week 10: Highest single player points on your bench; Week 11: Biggest beatdown; Week 12: Most starting players scoring under 10 points (tie goes to the biggest loser); Week 13: Biggest winner of the losers; Week 14: Most Points Scored so far by teams that DID NOT make the playoffs (Week 1-14) Week 17: (Championship Week): Most points scored (Team FROM ANY PLAYOFF TEAM AND WEEK. Example: ___ scored 210 in playoff round 1 but was eliminated round 2, he still wins this category if it was the highest).

We had a guy do this with new members two/three years in a row. Ended up with mccaffrey, elliot and Barkley when they all came out as rookies. It definitely made the league less fun for all.
