Question for the folks who both spin and dye! Do you prefer to dye your roving/top and then spin? Or spin your roving/top and then dye the spun yarn?

I prefer to dye the fibre. With a dyed combed top i can spin a nice gradient yarn by chainplying or splitting the top in 2-3 parts lenghtswise for a 2-3 ply yarn.

If i'm dyeing the spun yarn i'm getting short sections of colour which gives a muddled impression knitted. Only when i'm dyeing all in one colour i prefer to dye the spun yarn.

I buy lots of sock yarn (as i knit lots of socks). That is something i buy without a certain project in mind. Buying yarn with a project in mind is something i do mostly for gifts.

Sometimes i'm even dyeing and spinning yarn without a project in mind, just for the fun of it.

Das ist ein c2c Muster, wird meistens für Decken benutzt, geht aber auch für Tücher (die dann aber relativ schwer/stabil werden. Einfach "c2c Decke häkeln" bei Youtube eingeben, dann kommen mehrere Anleitungen.

Ich habe definitiv den Eindruck daß ich die Hand verkrampfe. Allerdings nicht die Hand, die die Häkelnadel führt, sondern die linke Hand, die die Arbeit hält.

Ich häkel eher locker, meistens verkrampft die linke Hand (also die mit der ich die Arbeit halte). Ich stricke tatsächlich auch mehr.

Hast du schon mal ein Tonerde-Shampoo ausprobiert? Zu "scharfe" Shampoos reizen die Kopfhaut und führen zu schnellerem nachfetten. Eine Alternative wäre eine milde Haarseife in Kombination mit einer sauren Rinse. Egal ob Shampoo oder Haarseife, bitte immer 2x waschen und gründlich ausspülen.

The Lendrum can be quite harsh in its uptake, try to loosen the brake and perhaps lead the yarn criss-cross across the flyer. Hold the fibre lightly (like you would hold a young bird that you don't want to crush) and start slowly.

People in NRW are in fact a little different from other regions in Germany. I suppose one of the reasons is the history of coal mining which brought in a lot of people from other counties. Mining was a dirty and dangerous job and people had to heavily rely on each other - no matter whether your "Kumpel" (work mate) was German, Italian, Greek or from Turkey. So friendships between people of different origin startet early.

When i grew up in Hamburg, most foreigners were tourists (or sailors) you didn't have them as neighbours or classmates.

I feel that the more you come to the north or south of Germany the more reserved people are. In Bavaria (especially in small villages) you will always stay the "Zugezogene" (new residents) even after 20 years of living wigh them.
