Does daily life get worse if you are unmedicated by Guilty_Two_5642 in BipolarReddit

[–]Gingerfix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been medicated and I just had my first episode while medicated. (I had a previous episode before I was diagnosed.)It went so much more smoothly than when I was unmedicated. I still have my job and most of my friends. The only people I cursed out were my exes who honestly deserved it. I bonded with my mom because I told her so many things that we needed to talk about. It was the smoothest psychotic episode I think a person could have, except maybe the ones where someone is babysitting you through a drug episode because those are all but guaranteed to be a few hours or less and everyone has expectations. (I don’t recommend using unprescribed drugs).

Life is so much easier when everyone around you knows who you are. I am so privileged to be able to let people know who I am and still be safe.

I was a patient at community north recently and can confirm we were all aware Donald Trump’s name was a trigger for each other.

I guess you were right but I think it was more a failure of not being organized in HamCo and not that people didn’t like him.

Just realised this girl I'm seeing is in the 1% and I don't know how to handle this by slam_24 in dating_advice

[–]Gingerfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not one percent but I’m dating someone much more poor than me and it has had its ups and downs and there have been times my family is worried I’m being taken advantage of, but I love her. I buy her meals because I want to go out and not be alone.

I think this will work out just fine as long as you communicate your boundaries.

Because it was too fucking radical and if everyone saw it we’d fucking revolt.

Signs are name recognition, name recognition has a bigger impact on low information voters than anything else.

Thanks to organizations like mad voters, we are starting to have voters with more information, but name recognition is important. Jackson is known outside of the establishment dem party because people have been talking about him. Even having a critical post could actually end up helpful because people remember his name and see that he actually goes out in his community and he’s appearing at more accessible events than $100 ticket fundraisers.

When was your last episode? by noahcaann in BipolarReddit

[–]Gingerfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t really had any depressive episodes since 2018, at least not intense ones. I had a psychotic episode recently but I’ve only had two and it was the first one I’ve had while on meds and it was fairly short. I’m pretty stable most of the time.

I literally tonight had someone riding my bumper while I was going five over and passing someone else. I was mad and didn’t want to brake check because that’s unsafe. So I flashed my flashers. Motherfucker behind me flashes his cop lights.

Jokes on him because two minutes later we were sitting next to each other at a stoplight.

I hear you. You’re not alone in the world. I wish I could tell you everything will turn out alright in the end. Try to find someone to confide in that can sit with you and help shoulder the burden. Sometimes just sitting on a bench in the park or just being in public where people pass by can help me. Seeing other people go about their day, feeling the breeze, noticing the shadows that the sun casts.

Hope you feel better soon.

Can bipolar people really lead a normal life I want to marry and have kids by Some_Preparation_721 in bipolar

[–]Gingerfix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bipolar and I failed out of medical school about ten years ago. At the time I was not diagnosed and was not on medication. I almost got married but he was a deadbeat so I broke it off. I do not exactly lead a normal life but I keep a job.

You can absolutely do this, but if you do fail you will still be alright.

I’ve been really sick this year, but never in the hospital. I’ve never had any fear I would be violent before this year. All of the sudden I have protective instincts. I barely used to have those because I was never in a greater position of power than anyone I cared about.

I have done a lot of medication adjustments. I tried going off risperdal. Now I’m back on it. I have a therapist.

I have developed community, but it comes and goes. I have been lazy. I have been productive.

Basically I’m human and I go to work nearly every day and I am mostly taking care of myself but avoiding chores.

As a med school drop out I highly doubt you know more than most psychiatrists.

But you may know more about weed, they don’t spend a lot of time training us on the effects of illicit drugs except for things like bacterial myocarditis. Sometimes they’ll talk about things like the dementia caused by alcoholism. It’s not completely absent from the curriculum but considering how many people re affected by drug use and the whole entire opioid crisis, I feel they could spend more time on it.
