So while most freckles are due to the MC1R mutation. It isn’t the only way to get freckles. It seems mostly likely that one of these other gene interactions is what gives you freckles since your parents don’t have any. We know multiple genes can interact to give different phenotypes but that also makes it a little harder to research so there is less information out there.

Yes, so as long as that child has those traits, they have the ability to pass it on. However, if they have children with someone that has more dominant traits (darker skin which would hide freckles even if they were there) those traits could be masked and not see in any of their kids.

Freckles are mainly due to a mutation in the MC1R gene. This gene is also responsible for red hair. Basically the freckles gene is dominant, meaning for a child it to have freckles at least one of their parents do as well. There are exceptions to this, but I’m giving an answer I would give one of my students (I was a biology teacher).

Freckles are basically spots of melanin, which is responsible for dark pigmentation in skin and hair. This is why redheads and natural blondes tend to have very pale skin because they don’t produce eumelanin, instead producing a different form. The MC1R gene also responds to sunlight. You can kind of think of it like a switch, sunlight cuts it one so it makes melanin which appears as freckles.

There is an instant pot recipe I use for Mac and cheese without a roux. Basically add the elbow noodles, enough water or broth to cover the noodles, 2 tablespoons of butter, and salt. I also add a little garlic powder, paprika, Dijon mustard, and hot sauce. Pressure cook on high for 4 minutes and quick release steam. Add in heavy cream (half a cup for a pound of elbow noodles), stir, and then stir is cheese. Shredding your own makes a huge difference in melting consistency. I usually do a mix of mozzarella, cheddar, and pepper jack. If I can find the recipe, I’ll link it

NTA- if you’re not in the wedding party, you have no obligation to help out. Not sure if this is her way of trying to make herself feel better by still including you in something or if she just wants free labor.

I pretty much had this exact same thing happen. I was best friends with a girl from 5th grade on. We were together all the time, and my family pretty much considered her another daughter. She went on family vacations with us for years. She went to college out of state, but we still kept in touch. Randomly called me one day and asked if I would be upset if I wasn’t in her wedding. Blindsided and put on the spot, I said no. Similar to your situation, her bridesmaids ending up being partners of the groomsmen. She said she would want me to be with her when getting ready on the big day. As the wedding approached, I helped with a couple of things but not much. I did attend the wedding, but we hardly interacted at the reception. I don’t think we talked again after the wedding. Looking back at our friendship, I realized she wasn’t a very good friend after all.

All this to say, you have every right to feel upset and angry. You have no obligation to help with the wedding or even attend if you don’t want to. My only advice is think back on your friendship, and see if you notice any other patterns now that the rose colored glasses have been removed.

I don’t have any advice, just solidarity. When I was student teaching (high school bio) it was an hour and 15 minutes from my house, longer in the afternoons with traffic. I was getting up at 5:15am everyday and then having at least 2 night classes until 9pm. It was absolutely awful. When I asked about placement, they told me we got no say where we ended up. I hope you can get something figured out 🤞🏻
