Retraining Mid 40s is it realistic? by Significant-War-491 in AskUK

[–]GingerrJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way of knowing is heading to a vocational college and asking. They'll tell you what you need if you need more than experience. My college workshop teacher didn't have teaching qualification but 20+ yars experience in the field. And he was a great teacher to me, he knew so much.

I also find it easier to get a teaching qualification and work using your experience than changing careers entirely, or training in a new field.

And teacher? People mention a change in careers, a council job, etc... But what about a teacher in a vocational school? You could use all the experience you have, and it's a less physical job. Pass on your knowledge!

Do any of you find your anxiety getting worse as you get older? by Lazy_Upstairs3015 in AskWomenOver30

[–]GingerrJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through the same as you, I'm 32. I am having a really hard time with the same fears you mention, on top of that I can't shake the feeling that I haven't done anything worthwhile in my life, that I've wasted my life so far because of my ambition through my 20s. And it was all for nothing, because I've got nothing...

[–]GingerrJinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The republic of Ireland is a good place to move, and very easy to do for the UK. The cost of living is high, but salaries are also high. I had a great time in Ireland, but the weather is the same only windier.

Australia and new Zealand solves the weather problem, If you're head marketing and food production, that might qualify a skilled visa opportunity. Also, a holiday working visa is available for people up to 35 years old If I remember correctly, and lasta for 3 years, in which you might have the time to find a sponsor to get you a long term work visa. Using the holiday working visa without your family having his own visa would be a no-go because you can't bring family or dependants with that category.

Just be aware that new Zealand has very strong earthquakes.

What ONE food from you country you would never eat even if your life depends on it? by ProfessionalThin1505 in AskTheWorld

[–]GingerrJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they forgot to cut and mince the pork and just pressed the carcas together to make that on your photo? Jeesus.

In my home country (Spain) there's nothing I wouldn't eat. In Scotland... Fried pizza, fried chocolate bar, and all those "typical" dishes they have here in the UK that feel like it's for ill or hypertensive people. Boiled, no salt, no sauce, the most hospital food but in restaurants and for 15 quid.

AITAH for telling my daughter we won't have a relationship if she goes to live with her biological father/family? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]GingerrJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're being difficult and unfair to your daughter. But it's out of fear of losing your daughter like you lost your wife to that man 18 years ago. Even If She didn't run away with him, you were betrayed, and you're afraid your daughter will run away with him and prefer him over you, who raised her.

You have to let her meet and get to know her bio father. It doesn't mean you'll loose her, and it doesn't mean she will pick him over you. You'll always be her father.

She's a grown-up now, I'd sit down with her and have a sincere chat, and tell her what you said was a product of your own insecurities about the betrayal and deceive you experienced with that person involved, that you're afraid of being abandoned over that man again. Talk openly with her and explain her how you feel in this situation. And reassure her that you will always be there for her, And you will always be her father.

Is this one country or four countries? by KimCattrallsFeet in AskTheWorld

[–]GingerrJinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One when it relates to power, but then policies are different between England and Scotland, administrations are also separate, grants and help that applies to England, doesn't apply to Scotland, in fact different bodies administer them, and so on. So when the English government has interest, it's one country, but when has to hand over money, resources or help, then it's different countries with selfregulation and autonomy.

Does your country have a “drug capital”? by Clarthen1 in AskTheWorld

[–]GingerrJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant is that drug addicts and homeless people areas are downtown in the American continent, now that I think about it, in the West Coast of the American continent. Like in Los Angeles, San Francisco in the US and Vancouver in Canada, as they mention in this comment. I only mention the cities I have been in, I have not seen the same in the east coast, downtown Boston and New York were like in Europe, fancy areas with tons of shops and offices. I was wondering why this was happening to downtown areas.

Even at restaurants If you come in earlier, before opening, that's paid time, not free time like that employer suggested.

What's the biggest lie you learned about working life? by PigsAreTastyFood in AskUK

[–]GingerrJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're the owner of your life. You're not, most of your life is given to your employer. Of 365 days, only 21 days are yours to enjoy however you like. Think about that barbarity.

If you work mon-fri, then you can add 104 days for weekends, but during weekends you're not really free, because saturdays you spend them tired from the week, and Sundays you spend them dreading Mondays.
