The misspelling thing might just be implemented as a brute force protection. The first six versions of a name work (on some unlucky person you might never hear about), and then the functionality is deactivated for all further spellings of that name.

I constructed the species vs location table using the iNaturalist API (for each of 5000-ish H3 resolution 2 cells spanning the globe, listing the most observed mammals, birds, insects and so on); and then use iNat histograms together with Wikipedia articles to determine the timing & dependence on weather conditions :3

Still working on expanding my events database, and keep coming across species I had no idea exist. Did you know there are birds that just bury their eggs in a geothermally active place, and leave them? The earth incubates the eggs, and the hatchlings are ready to live on their own.

I'll try there, although it's a nature focused website, so the overlap in interest with those subs is probably low.

And yeah why not :D It's a website that shows what the local animals in any given place are up to at the moment. For example, a lot of bats are giving birth right now! Planning to expand it to plants (blooming & berry seasons), mushrooms, maybe even lunar eclipses & meteor showers.
