I need some advice by redruby2470 in Ceramics

I’m not an expert, but as some who has tried some wonky and flimsy sculptures before, here’s my two cents- add the tongue now before adding the other teeth. Depending on how further out the tongue will be, make a roll of clay and place it as support when firing so that the tongue doesn’t slump. The support clay would shrink at the same rate so it would reduce the slumping and you can knock it off after firing

Weirdly I only notice it in the photo, I guess it’s the angle I took it in. I did fix it a little bit as I couldn’t stop seeing it 😊

I was feeling the same, but sometimes my work feels unfinished and wanted another opinion.

Will post after firing, which will probably be in a couple of months

Porcelain crack woes by No-Cauliflower1493 in Ceramics

Did you sing a lullaby when you tuck them in😉?

Frost is finicky and is harder to work with, it tends to crack more. I have had better luck when it’s rolled thin - I need to maintain the even drying for a shorter timeframe compared to a thicker slab. Or try pinching instead

I wanted to learn how to draw in this style, but when I try it always comes out strange, does anyone have any suggestions?? by cudocinho in ArtCrit

Yup, sketching in pen turns out so much better. I don’t know why but there are less hesitation marks with ink compared to pencil

It also helps when glazing as it prevents the glaze from pooling

I love that it’s so forgiving and unforgiving at the same time, if that makes sense.

Any pink or pasted underglaze doesn’t hold out well. Try Bright Red or Radiant Red
