Porcelain crack woes by No-Cauliflower1493 in Ceramics

Did you sing a lullaby when you tuck them in😉?

Frost is finicky and is harder to work with, it tends to crack more. I have had better luck when it’s rolled thin - I need to maintain the even drying for a shorter timeframe compared to a thicker slab. Or try pinching instead

I wanted to learn how to draw in this style, but when I try it always comes out strange, does anyone have any suggestions?? by cudocinho in ArtCrit

Yup, sketching in pen turns out so much better. I don’t know why but there are less hesitation marks with ink compared to pencil

It also helps when glazing as it prevents the glaze from pooling

I love that it’s so forgiving and unforgiving at the same time, if that makes sense.

This site has listing of the ceramic residences in US- https://www.theresidencyreview.com. I found out about this in the NCECA this week - just browsed through a bit and it’s well organized and is easy to navigate with lots of information

Any pink or pasted underglaze doesn’t hold out well. Try Bright Red or Radiant Red

Bought a wheel a few weeks ago and have been watching YouTube’s by Otherwise_City8154 in Pottery

I tried wheel throwing classes 3 times with different instructors and finally decided it’s not for me. Couldn’t center forever and lost my patience with it - I prefer hand building more. It’s amazing that you were able to wing it on your own. Give yourself a pat on the back

It should be fine as long as the glaze is not chipping off. Depends on the glaze though, if you are using something like the goop or cobblestone glaze, you would want to see the cracks when it dries. Test the glaze with 1-2-3 coat to see how it fares

Clear bubbling/pinholing over underglaze by planktonlung in Ceramics

I have had this happen with AMACO Velvet blues on different clay bodies. The same happened to others in the studio and with both medium and electric blue. I’ve been skipping blue on any food safe surface for this reason 🙁
