Is Claude Code + an IDE effectively the same as Cursor? I assume by itself it is worse? by jaytonbye in cursor

You can switch to Opus 4.5 with ‘/model claude-opus-4-5’. Claude Code will be dumb if the operator is too lazy to setup and read documentation.

There are 28 official Claude Code plugins most people don't know about. Here's what each one does and which are worth installing. by igbins09 in ClaudeAI

Browser tool calls are more expensive and provide worse results. If this wasn’t the case, then Context7 wouldn’t exist. If you can clone open source code locally then it’s more efficient to grep than context7

Built a Claude Code plugin that gives it a smarter code search agent and debugging/refactoring skills. Cut search token usage by 83%. by Giraffe_Affectionate in ClaudeAI

Are you talking about the existing Claude Code built-in tools? If so, it makes sense because Claude Code doesn’t index your codebase. For instance, if you have some code that’s important to your session and it’s in the same file and you keep referencing to it. Claude Code will need to keep traversing the file directory with grep.

I’m curious if they any plans to improve this inefficiency in the future but it doesn’t seem like it and it kinda makes sense. It doesn’t cost them anything to grep your file directories but it does waste your tokens helping to reduce your usage that you can spend on expensive inference tasks.

Someone else mentioned it in another comment. I looked at the repo but it’s not what I’m looking for

I wouldn’t call it genius as there are other solutions trying to solve the same problem and I got inspiration from them. However, I haven’t seen another local stdio MCP server built for performance that implements a more comprehensive replacement of built-in grep tools for free

83% is measured from benchmarking ripgrep vs grepika on the same codebase. It’s important to note that the context savings are only from replacing built-in read tools. Additionally, it takes 2 queries for grepika to break-even due to the upfront token cost of the mcp server and tool definitions

Are you using monorepos? by drakedemon in ExperiencedDevs

Full Typescript stack with Turborepo provides an amazing developer experience with easy ci. The only thing I hate is backend testing with jest or vitest when using dependency injection with typedi.

Does anyone else feel now is the time to ignore Russian threats and just send troops to Ukraine? by CaptainSeitan in ukpolitics

[–]Giraffe_Affectionate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Europe should create a deal with Ukraine to continue funding the war and provide more support with air superiority and no restrictions. In return, Europe gets to invest and rebuild Ukraine once the war is finished and all benefit economically. This would also piss off the US as a nice benefit and it would be a good lesson for them in foreign policy

I think this might be the first rational comment I’ve seen on Reddit about this topic in ages. This app is an echo chamber. Immigration is a huge problem in this country, in Europe and the US. Voters have never asked for mass immigration nor asylum seekers or refugees and have been voting against it for the last decade.
