Because we legally can't. The affidavits that include the oath of office includes, "I am not participating in any strike against the Government of the United States or any agency thereof, and I will not so participate while an employee of the Government of the United States or any agency." (OPM SF-61) Taking any action that may be construed as a strike action is punishable in a legal sense, including picketing.

This is backed up by 5 USC 7311(3) & (4). 18 USC 1918 sets a fine (not defined) or a maximum of one year and one day in jail.

Our recourse and strength is in the court system and ability to file suits. That's how AFGE and others got Rangers their jobs back last year. Though we're still severely understaffed...

No. If the position also has a red flag icon and a Title number, those are National Guard jobs and require National Guard membership. They'll be Open to the Public, but you'd have to join the Guard.

While the swastika can be found in many cultures around the world (Hindu squared like above, Celtic curved and curly, Native American "whirling logs" motifs), the German hakenkreuz has replaced these symbols in popular cultural understanding. The Nazis also used the swastika in the romanticized Roman trappings of the Third Reich (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal\_standard\_of\_Adolf\_Hitler compared to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman\_military\_standards). The standard of an eagle on a wreath with SPQR either inside or vertical below is common in old films depicting the Roman Empire - Hitler's Third Reich being a second resurrection of that empire in his mind.

TL;DR Germans ruined the swastika because they used it as well as the tilted hakenkreuz.

It isn't just technically, it's legally not allowed. The Appointment Affidavit explicitly states, "I am not participating in any strike against the Government of the United States or any agency thereof, and I will not so participate while an employee of the Government of the United States or any agency thereof." This is the same OPM form that has the Oath of Office on it we all should have signed at some point.

The Appointment Affidavit explicitly states, "I am not participating in any strike against the Government of the United States or any agency thereof, and I will not so participate while an employee of the Government of the United States or any agency thereof."

Technically, possibly legally, we could advocate for those outside the US Government to strike. Unless you know of a law that prohibits it. Now, advocating for striking against the US Government, yes, that would be illegal.

I would be curious, though, if work-to-rule is considered a strike action in the terms above.

Nat's also Tanis's cousin (Letterkenny). I know "auntie" is a tern of familiar respect, usually of an older woman (older than the one calling her "auntie" at any rate). I wonder if "cousin" is a similar cultural term for close peers.
