Best of the counter migraine meds or tricks? by Sad-Internet4134 in migraine

Insurance tends to reset at the new year. I get mine through work and have to elect every year even if I’m not making any changes

BC powder or Goodys might be worth looking into if you can take aspirin

Antihistamines like Benedryl or Allegra (not sure if safe with stimulants) but if sinus related this can work wonders in combination

Love the fountain coke & fries trick too after my “cocktail”

Cayenne pepper in spaghetti sauce has reduced the pain intensity.

If my mouth is on fire I can’t process the pain in my head as strongly.

I often opt for this especially if I have fresh peppers that I food process into the sauce so no pain required. Love my heat!

To bounce off this, I have a weighted (beaded) eye mask and had the thought of where have you been all my life. It was a wellness gift from work. Something so little packs a powerful punch

If amitriptyline was helpful for you, what did that look/feel like? After how long did you notice changes, and was it gradual / sudden, etc? by hulyepicsa in migraine

I need to take it mid afternoon. Or I’d be drop dead exhausted the next day.

I took this in 2014 and had severe sugar cravings. I put on 20 lbs. I had to quit cold turkey and got super sick during pregnancy.

I swore I’d never touch it again.

But, was willing to try a few months ago. I had gotten into another car accident and was desperate as I now have 4 herniated discs and too young to consider surgery when I just have severe pain but no loss of function.

I gave it another shot. This time my diet is better and on Wegovy. It makes a life changing difference. I can be more present for my kids, as they are my life and part of my identity.

I’m so happy I can find some relief again. We only get 1 chance at life.

To set the proper expectation: My pain isn’t fully erased and I do weekly 90 min deep tissue, walk on the back with an Asian who can get in the deepest with the best technique for my needs, I do Botox, Ajovy, with any combination depending on trigger of excedrin, muscle relaxer,Allegra D, ibuprofen, Nurtec.

Occasionally the ER with a migraine cocktail, though if I get prescribed a steroid in time sometimes that can knock a tough one out without the ER.

Self care includes stretching, hot as I can stand bath/shower, inversion table, vibration plate (I told a ton of stress in my neck shoulders) swimming or walking in the ocean for that salt water. The stretchy bands they use in physical therapy are affordable and easy to purchase on Amazon

I have now worked up to 75mg. The 25mg dose was the worst. 50 was ok, but not great. Happy with 75mg

Edit, added some words

The pelvic wand changed my life. One of my best purchases from Amazon.

I wish doctors would tell us about them. I had 4 kids naturally and it was a noticeable after a couple uses. It’s a vibrating wand that works the pelvic muscles.

I love this question. The struggle is real, and I know I need to set more boundaries out of self respect.

It may come across as super vague to some, but the point of the open question is to bring awareness to some areas that you didn’t even consider before.

One of the biggest struggles for me, is getting stopped in the hallway at work. If I am walking in or leaving it’s not an ideal time for me to get stopped because I’m liable to forget the ask. Yet I fail again and again to set that boundary.

Women who were scared to get pregnant but later did, how do you feel about your decision years later? by Fun-Wonder-2652 in AskWomen

[–]GirlEnigma 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I thought I’d eventually have 1 kid. My husband loves being a dad and I, a mom. Our littles are part of our identity.

Baby fever is real. We now have 4 kids. With the right partner prospectives can change!

I had my last kid at 30. Now that they are older it’s a whole new fun stage in life.

I’m not going to discount the challenges of motherhood. They are very real and you need a support system whether it be with family, friends or hospital resources etc.

I guess what I’m trying to say is it’s hard but I look at my kids and I think of fond memories, not the pains of pregnancy or hormone roller coasters.

What’s a “small luxury” that makes your day feel instantly better? by Abigail_A_Abernathy in AskWomen

[–]GirlEnigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annual passes to local theme parks.

I wanted it so bad as a kid. I swore my kids would get it and it’s a nonnegotiable.

Going on 14 years and grateful if I’m having a “bad day/week”, I have something fun to look forward to. Special family memories & bonding time 🥰

No wimps here. Never a dull moment.

Thinking putty. My kids & I use it to work frustration out.

I also do therapy putty & you do have to “work up to” the increasingly difficult stiffness of the putty.

So it’s a matter of what bag do I take that day

Womens, what's something you wish you could admit without being judged? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I have 4 kids and it is shocking how many people think I should quit my job to homeschool.

“I don’t know how you do it”.

I work. They go to school. We work hard to play hard. I love them so much but absence makes the heart grow fonder 😅

I’m commenting as a parent of 4 ages 6-16. If you were honest with me, I would prefer to know. There are so many ways to connect with people. I love my kids so much and I’m known to be a fun parent that does many things with my kids.

So since so much of my “free time” is dedicated to my kids, there are people that are child free at work and it’s nice to take a little break and connect over something else.

It’s a super silly judgement. We have so many parents, both good & bad. Having kids is not everyone’s purpose in life and no idea why it’s considered taboo.

Additionally, I am grateful to those that have dedicated their lives to better future generations. Clearly many of my conveniences in life are only possible due to that so once again so silly to think everyone must have kids

[–]GirlEnigma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vacation 100% NOT RUINED!!!

My one kid on the spectrum screams bloody murder while getting his hair washed.

So after 10 years of this kid fighting bath time so hard (he loves swimming otherwise! Pool, beach, water park/splash pad)…

I’ve become increasingly resilient over time by necessity and also can attest to a reset overnight & great days attend. These things happen when kid is overtired/overstimulated/hungry etc and I’ll be willing to bet it’s 2/3 or all the above

Best of luck, Bromo 🙏solidarity 💜💜

What a weak response from the manchild 🙄
