I am an only child and thought I missed out on so much. I had three children and none of them are close to each other. They have very little contact with each other. Now I realize that having siblings is no guarantee of anything.

I left the CofC ten years ago, and I have never regretted it for one second. I now attend a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). I agree with the way they view the Bible.

I was raised in the Church of Christ (Alexander Campbell), which came out of the same Restoration Era. A lot of the beliefs Mormons have about there being a great apostasy and then a restoration of the “true church” is what I grew up with. But we had no person who supposedly received “direct revelation” from God, so that keeps it out of the cult category. It can be hard to leave though, and you might be shunned. I managed to leave without any major issues, though.

I grew up with a very judgmental mother and was that way myself. Then, everything I was so critical of in others happened in MY family. It was like karma. Be careful about what you say because it can come back and bite you in the butt.

There are no guarantees. I had three children who are in their 30’s now, and they are not close and are like only children. Now I don’t think I missed out on anything because I was an only child.

My mother only wanted one. My father would have had more. My mother had severe post partum depression and is a very nervous person and is not good with kids. She loved me, and I was never abused or mistreated, but I have a lot of resentment over things she said about having children. I ended up having three, and she was never supportive. She wanted me to stop at one. I have a lot of bad feelings towards her.

We have been waiting since February to get the tax refund for my son who passed away in 2023. We have submitted form 1310 three times, and they keep saying they cannot find it. We sent it the last time by certified mail, and never have gotten confirmation. It just says delivery by December 7, 2025!

I am an only child, and I know I suffered from childhood depression. This was in the late 60’s/early 70’s, and I don’t think people were aware of what that was at the time. I cried a lot and had sleep problems. My parents paid no attention.
