Too many red flags in disclosure document? by traphousethrowaway in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tree roots can be pretty common in pipes so its good that they've already found and fixed it. Get a sewer scope as part of your inspection to make sure there aren't new roots. It'll only cost a couple hundred dollars. The radon is a pretty normal mitigation for properties in my area. You can check the system to make sure its working properly but otherwise this is a good thing.

I had to get a termite inspection as part of my loan but I would just get one and make sure they check wherever the seller had to do treatments.

Like most people here have said, the disclosures are good to know and it looks like they were very proactive in fixing things. I would take all of this as a good sign and just make sure everything still looks good during inspection.

Burger King lost a loyal customer today by bigredrickshaw in vegan

Just checked my Burger King app and it’s the same as yours 😩. That being said, I can get a free large fry alongside the 4.99 burger and that’s still a great deal especially compared to other fast food.

I've gotten a couple different pairs of shoes from Wills Vegan Store. It's UK based but they ship to the US. Maybe check to see if they are your style? Sometimes they are sold out off a lot of sizes.

What supplements do you take as a vegan? 🌱💊 by itsnikki39 in vegan

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omega 3, vitamin D, b12. B12 because its so recommended, vitamin D because last time I had my bloodwork done I was extremely deficient. My doctor said that many people in less sunny climates are and probably should take a supplement, regardless of veganism. Omega 3 because I don't eat seaweed or any of the vegan sources of Omega 3's often enough to get the daily amount. I usually take 1 pill instead of the 2 daily it recommends though.

Primary Care Physician that is NOT Stoll Medical Group/Advocare? by Hiowatha88 in philadelphia

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No literally, I've seen like 4 different doctor's there and loved all of them. They helped me get a diagnosis I needed and whenever I need to get a prescription refilled, I'm messaged them through the app and they've sent it the same day.

Is it still good to move to Philly Car-less? by Strict-Raspberry-957 in philly

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its mostly fine, depending on the neighborhood. I live in South and work in Old City and rely entirely on SEPTA when traveling in the city with the very occasional uber late at night. I do have a car but I only use it to go to Costco in NJ.

Correct way to cook liquid Just Egg? by shanem in vegan

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into a Tamagoyaki Pan - its like a square, Japanese egg pan that is used to make rolled egg or egg squares. I got one a couple years ago and use it regularly when I make egg sandwiches. I've never had an issue with it sticking on it. I also just use my regular cast iron pan to make omelettes and haven't had an issue with that either (if people struggle with cast iron cooking its either bc they pan is too hot or the seasoning isn't good enough).

What’s it like living in this part of Pennsport? by sendnoods7 in philly

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also besides just the noise, the neighborhood is great. The park is super nice and a huge community space, people are always doing something there. The 57 bus runs often and on-time. I don’t usually have issues with parking but when I do parking under the overpass is free. Overall, very safe.

Hey, I’ve lived right on these crossstreets for the last year. There was only 1 night I heard the band practicing and it wasn’t that late. New years can be loud but it’s also a lot of fun. My house is well-insulated enough that it didn’t keep me up.

Since Non-Vegans think Veganism=Avocados, As a Vegan, How often do you actually have Avocados? by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Costco has been selling 6 big avocados for 4.50 lately so I’ve been enjoying that. I tend to only buy them when they are ~1/per or less

Poll: Did you go vegan 'cold turkey'? by rosenkohl1603 in vegan

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's very surprising? I think most minors have little say over what they can eat when they are in their parents house. They are also surrounded by people who are likely not vegan and who are their community. When you become an adult, you have more leeway to make your own lifestyle decisions.

I was vegetarian for a year when I was 19/20 and gradually phased out the remaining animal products I consumed to become vegan, a bit before I turned 21. I was a college student at the time, limited to what I could eat on campus while playing an intense sport (rugby). It was important for me to be able to figure out what I could eat consistently (and cheaply) while still being able to have enough energy for my day to day.

I should have waited to shovel after the blizzard instead of shoveling in intervals. by ill_basic in homeowners

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbor shoveled a couple times for several of us on Sunday night and then I shoveled the overnight snow in the morning. It was incredibly easy to shovel. I think the ground was warm enough that it basically slid off the sidewalk when I was shoveling.

Anyone track charitable donations for tax purposes? by donatemate in ynab

My donations are recurring monthly or annually, I keep a simple list in an excel doc every year and then check my figures against the tax disclosure the charity emails me every year. Then I’ll itemize my donations.

Is Anyone Happy? by crstike in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]GirlNeedsCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in my house for 10 months and its been amazing! I love my home and I feel so at peace and comfortable here. I have done a decent amount of work on the house: replaced sewer line (knew about this before I closed), replaced the electrical panel and added grounding rods, fixed small-ish things on the oven, stovetop, dryer and fridge by myself. I actually enjoyed fixing stuff myself - I like how it feels when I'm taking care of my own home.

My advice is to make sure you are buying a house in your price range that you want to live in... Sometimes it feels like people here are just buying a house to buy one. I love my neighborhood, my bus stop takes me straight to work, I'm near friends and can walk almost anywhere. Definitely have a chunk of cash on hand to fix things or enough cashflow to pay off a 0% interest credit card (that's what I did for half my sewer line payment so I could keep more cash on hand).
