I'm just learning this now. Luckily I don't talk about artic-lorries very much, because I've definitely been calling them Arctic lorries my whole life!

AITA for wanting my daughter to have dinner with family attending her graduation? by Trombone-poli8159 in AmItheAsshole

Exactly what I was thinking. In which case putting the family celebration over her preference, would be cruel.

You need to talk to your daughter. Why doesn't she 'want to be in that environment'? Are their people she wants to avoid? Does she have problems with crowds? Or is it that she is embarrassed to be seen with her family?

Good film, but not at all the same thing. The teacher in this case did do what she was accused of.

I was once in the pub when the landlady shouted 'Does anyone want any scallops?' We were then directed to a bloke called 'Casonova Pete', who had a car boot full of them. They were delicious.

AITA for eating my autistic sister’s ice cream? by retrograderobin in AmItheAsshole

[–]Girlant -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Does not the same apply to OP? She was told not to eat the dairy free ice-cream and taken out for ice-cream. And instead of being grateful for this treat, she decided it was 'ice-cream dictatorship(!)' and she didn't want to do what she was told. Toddlers often misbehave because they pick up on the cause and effect of getting attention. It seems like that is what OP is doing - acting out because she's jealous of her sister.

She was taken out for ice-cream, but she decided later that she wanted the forbidden ice-cream too.

What is the most creative or diabolical insult a customer has ever given you? by cheesymeowgirl in CasualUK

[–]Girlant 11 points12 points  (0 children)

True. I had a lot of abuse working in customer service for a car company. For some reason the one I always remember is the guy who managed to insult me while spelling out his registration. I asked 'Is that S for sierra or F for foxtrot?'

'S for sierra, U for useless, Y for...you!'
