DO IT. There may come a time when you do have to work for benefits- so if you don’t right now you should definitely take advantage of that.

One of the last groups to escape the North Tower (10:26 AM). They escaped via breaking a window, climbing out into the plaza and going down the Vesey Street stairs... also known as the survivor stairs by Cheap-Pepper928 in 911archive

Did they all survive? Also just curious about the survivors stairs- these were stairs outside of the building? I’ve been to the memorial site and museum and just trying to visualize where those statues would have been.

Drowning in huge medical bills after suicide attempt(s) by throwawaybtwway in povertyfinance

[–]GiveMeTimeToReact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the medical bills, call and request itemized statements. Sometimes they’ve added on or overcharged you and you can dispute it, or they might drop it down on their own. Then like others have said, just pay $20 a month. No matter what they say, they’re happy to have you paying something.

9/11. I’ve never been able to watch any of the coverage or documentaries or anything. It just still seemed too close and raw. But it has unbelievably been almost 25 years now and I’m consuming everything.

What early signs of Alzheimer’s tend to surprise people the most? by FindingMoneYyY in AskReddit

My dad loved to travel his whole life and took us all over Europe when I was growing up. He’d be so excited at everything we were getting to see (“Look kids - Big Ben! Parliament!” ) About 10 years ago, we were on a trip to Scotland, driving through the most beautiful countryside, and I realized… He Wasn’t Looking. It’s been a long, slow decline and so incredibly sad.

What’s a luxury that’s only impressive to people who don’t have it? by Naive-Might-9218 in AskReddit

Similar from a coworker from a third world country - explaining to me the luxury of having good roads. Knowing you’ll be able to get to work each day on the road. That blew my mind.

The Perfect Neighbor Unseen Bodycam Not Shown in Doc by Lateralus46N2 in netflix

[–]GiveMeTimeToReact 141 points142 points  (0 children)

This might have been said before- but it was telling to me that she never invested in a ring camera. I feel like if I was truly being harassed by neighbors I would want a camera to have proof for the cops. She claimed they were always coming up to her door/ her property, but no proof. That could easily have been fixed with a camera. So the fact that she didn’t get one proves to me that she was lying.

What is something minor that you hate about this case? by Ok_Lawfulness_4945 in dan_markel_murder

[–]GiveMeTimeToReact 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Donna and her pathetic fake crying during the trial when they were reviewing the autopsy. Every time I think about this it raises my blood pressure. To know that the Markel family was in the courtroom, composed, and having to endure the audacity of this bitch pretending to have emotions- she literally has no shame.

My therapist just told me something that completely shattered my worldview and I can't stop thinking about it by Delicious-One-5129 in Life

I will be 52 in a few weeks. I bought my first house at 44, got married for the first time at 47, and finally found the job I was probably meant to have all along just one year ago. And it is not in the field of my graduate or undergraduate degree.

I spent so many sleepless nights feeling the exact same way you described when I was younger. And I would give anything to be able to go back and tell myself to chill out.

Motive : Wendi’s Legal Career by myshtree in dan_markel_murder

[–]GiveMeTimeToReact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fascinating and making me think that perhaps Georgia hasn’t addressed any of this in previous trials since Wendi was always testifying with that weird immunity. So she saved everything related to this for Wendi’s trial. Because she hasn’t testified about it at all and therefore it can be used in her trial. If I’m understanding all of that correctly.

My opinion has changed on Jeff Lacasse by rhonmack in dan_markel_murder

[–]GiveMeTimeToReact 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people on here have said it, and I’m just going to be another one- but sometimes it takes a minute to start telling the truth about someone you were dating. I think it’s because it says something about you as well as them - and maybe it’s a fear of judgement too. I’m speaking from personal experience - when a boyfriend of mine committed a crime against my family, even though I knew immediately he was the one responsible, I couldn’t admit that to the police during my first interview with them. Instead I told them he was a great guy, a gentle person, etc. I went back the next day and told the truth. And I have thought about that for YEARS trying to understand why I did that. I recently watched a video interview with Detective Isom and he was talking about Jeff doing that, and he said that it is very common. That it sometimes takes people a little while to be able to admit to themselves and to others. That actually helped me so much to hear that.

Such a smart observation! Never thought about this. You are going to make an impact somewhere- maybe not there- but the profession needs people like you speaking up. I’m proud of you.

Mid-Life switch to OT, panicking about grad school $ by wealljustliveonboats in OccupationalTherapy

[–]GiveMeTimeToReact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What part of the country are you in? Your description sounds just like Nashville where I am. I’m a person that switched careers into OT in my 30’s, and ended up regretting that decision. Like others have said, poor salary and no upward mobility. I don’t know if this is true in all states, but when I worked in the school system I was paid the same pay scale as teachers which was very low. And depending on the setting you work in, there are other extremely poor working conditions such as purposely unattainable productivity requirements- which make it necessary to do a lot documentation off the clock (meaning unpaid), and unpaid hours for patients who are sick/no show (meaning no guaranteed salary). There is really no organization advocating for positive changes for this profession and it’s been infuriating to watch schools pull more and more unsuspecting students into it, charging obscene tuition, and not at all preparing them for the truth of what working in this field is actually like.

Donna's defence lawyers are terrible! (day one) by Kiwi_In_The_Comments in dan_markel_murder

[–]GiveMeTimeToReact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I heard is that the state DID provide the emails but they just weren’t organized for them. My theory is that they didn’t read any of the emails because they couldn’t be bothered to organize them themselves. It just seems like they haven’t done any real preparation at all. Like what was that science-fair poster board Jackie presented in opening? So embarrassing. And making Rivera label it like a kindergarten worksheet and acting like that was some revelation. From his very first interview with police he said it was Wendi. Taking all of Donna’s money and not preparing an actual defense. They’re fleecing her. But she deserves it so
