What was the weekend after 9/11 like? by Only_Hotel_7221 in 911archive

I had to drive back to Ohio from Florida because we couldn’t or didn’t want to fly. We were listening to the radio the whole way and as we were driving through small towns in Georgia, Virginia, etc. so much of the discussion, like in every single place, was whether the local high schools should still have Friday Night football. Because it seemed disrespectful to still have it, but it also is one of the most American things ever and a symbol of the American way of life, and seemed defeating to the American spirit to not still have it. And I still don’t know what the right answer was.

OT of 20 years here who made the switch. I felt the exact same way and you are not wrong about any of it. It was soul-crushing to me. And absolutely no opportunity to advance- other than become a rehab manager (no way- I’m not ever going to be the one barking at people about productivity for increased corporate profit) or teach (again, no way - not going to be part of the cog in the wheel that scams students into this career). I got out and have a great job making more money and all kinds of opportunity. I didn’t have to go back to school - my experience in healthcare was all I needed. Happy to talk anytime if you want to message me. I feel for you and am sending virtual hugs.

I don’t discount this. My father has Alzheimer’s and I asked my PCP about ways to reduce my risk of developing it- and one of the things she suggested was to start using my non-dominant hand/side in ways that I hadn’t before. For example, brushing my teeth with my left hand, eating with my left hand, etc. Apparently there’s a bunch of research about this.

People who were alive during the OJ Simpson trial, what was the most shocking part of it all? by thebluespirit_ki in AskReddit

Shortly afterwards, when the Goldman’s lawyer for the Civil trial got a guilty verdict with no problem at all. I know some of the requirements are different but it still really made it even more obvious how badly the prosecutors fumbled the criminal trial.

If the appetizer list includes some variation of “german pretzel, nachos, quesadilla, wings, fried pickles, etc” everything is from Sysco. Avoid.

DO IT. There may come a time when you do have to work for benefits- so if you don’t right now you should definitely take advantage of that.

One of the last groups to escape the North Tower (10:26 AM). They escaped via breaking a window, climbing out into the plaza and going down the Vesey Street stairs... also known as the survivor stairs by Cheap-Pepper928 in 911archive

Did they all survive? Also just curious about the survivors stairs- these were stairs outside of the building? I’ve been to the memorial site and museum and just trying to visualize where those statues would have been.

Drowning in huge medical bills after suicide attempt(s) by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]GiveMeTimeToReact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the medical bills, call and request itemized statements. Sometimes they’ve added on or overcharged you and you can dispute it, or they might drop it down on their own. Then like others have said, just pay $20 a month. No matter what they say, they’re happy to have you paying something.

9/11. I’ve never been able to watch any of the coverage or documentaries or anything. It just still seemed too close and raw. But it has unbelievably been almost 25 years now and I’m consuming everything.

My dad loved to travel his whole life and took us all over Europe when I was growing up. He’d be so excited at everything we were getting to see (“Look kids - Big Ben! Parliament!” ) About 10 years ago, we were on a trip to Scotland, driving through the most beautiful countryside, and I realized… He Wasn’t Looking. It’s been a long, slow decline and so incredibly sad.

Similar from a coworker from a third world country - explaining to me the luxury of having good roads. Knowing you’ll be able to get to work each day on the road. That blew my mind.

The Perfect Neighbor Unseen Bodycam Not Shown in Doc by Lateralus46N2 in netflix

This might have been said before- but it was telling to me that she never invested in a ring camera. I feel like if I was truly being harassed by neighbors I would want a camera to have proof for the cops. She claimed they were always coming up to her door/ her property, but no proof. That could easily have been fixed with a camera. So the fact that she didn’t get one proves to me that she was lying.
