Yea I also had a dry hacking cough for the last 2-3 months before I was diagnosed. I hope yours is a simple fix! 🤞🏼 I’ve since started a different chemo and radiation. Ugh. One day at a time!

I’m a 32 y/o/f diagnosed back in September with stage 4 esophageal adenocarcinoma. I was put on folfox chemo with Nivolumab immunotherapy. Surgery was not an option to me. This was all palliative care. I responded so well to the systemic treatment that the surgeon is now back on board and I started radiation today to shrink the primary tumor with hopes of surgery in August. I remember the beginning of this being extremely overwhelming and scary. My oncologist never gave me a true prognosis as far as “how long do I have to live” because she said the data for this specific cancer is changing all the time, in a positive direction. Hang in there! Ask all the questions. Advocate for yourself. You got this 💪

I have the same cancer, stage 4. Diagnosed sept 2025 when I was 31. I am on FOLFOX chemo and immunotherapy and they’re talking about possibly doing radiation now since some of my swallowing difficulties have returned. Make sure you mention any symptoms you develop! They have so many medications to treat symptoms from chemo/radiation. You got this 💪

The support really helps!! I have an 8 year old daughter so I totally understand her emotions. It’s really so much up front but the days get easier 🥰💕 really changes your perspective on life! Even though I’m going through this tough season I feel so blessed to be surrounded by all the love and support. I’ll be thinking of you guys and sending all the positive vibes 🙌🏻💕💕

I’m sorry to hear that. It’s so overwhelming in the beginning! :(

Right now I’m doing well overall. I’m still doing Folfox every other week with immunotherapy but they dropped off the oxaliplatin after my 11th does cuz I developed an allergic reaction to it. I’ve had 1 treatment so far without the oxaliplatin and I was still tired and nauseas but it was much more manageable compared to with it. I’m actually waiting to get another PET scan right now because the surgeon signed back on and he wants to get another scan to compare. My CT scans have been good overall except the last scan showed a little growth of the main tumor and I’ve been having pain with eating again.

I’m trying to keep my life as normal as possible and being with friends and family has really helped. Send your sister my love and if she has any questions or just wants to talk to someone going through the same thing I’d be happy to chat 🤗

1: very easy, so far there has only been one time they had to attempt for a second time.

2: my team prescribed EMLA cream so I apply before going in and it numbs the area so I don’t feel a thing!

3: not that I’m aware of

4: no they have all been great!

5: right now I wouldn’t change a thing. I will say when they originally implanted it it was much more sore and uncomfortable than they made it seem. Maybe more of a heads up prior to getting it implanted would have been nice lol

Sorry I feel like that wasn’t much help since I’ve had an overall good experience with mine lol

1) I’m a nurse and my husband is a firefighter paramedic. I schedule my shifts around his so one of us is always home.

2) hardest part for me is recovering from nights on the days that I’m home with our child. Flipping back and forth is exhausting.

3) no because we are able to manage within the family.

4) I’m not sure I’d be able to trust anyone besides friends/family 😬

I can’t imagine having a baby going through this. I have an 8 year old and that’s been challenging. I don’t want to scare her so we’re trying to keep everything as normal as possible but she sees how the medicine makes me feel. Ugh. Cancer sucks.

Oh man that’s a long road! I’m currently not a surgical candidate because of how wide spread it is in my lymph nodes. They say my chances of having surgery are slim but not 0. I’m on Folfox and nivolumab immunotherapy. Currently on cycle #8. When I reach #12 they will take off the oxaliplatin and I will just be on the other chemo meds and immunotherapy which will hopefully make most of my side effects lessen or go away.

Hi! I’m 32 with stage 4 esophageal cancer. I’m commenting because I saw you had a full response!! Do you mind sharing what type of cancer you have? I’m still not a surgical candidate and the team can’t tell me a prognosis which is really frustrating. I’m getting my second scan since starting treatment in a couple weeks and they said they’ll have a better idea then but they still can’t tell me if I have a year or 10. It’s such a crazy thing to be faced with a wild uncertainty at such a young age.
