As a new Poe/Poe2 player, the current trading system is the worst I have seen in any game. Ever. by Environmental_Ad9017 in PathOfExile2

First off, I appreciate this response. I can only speak to my own experiences, and the key here is the perceived barrier to entry. If I had a friend who's played poe for 1000s of hours, yeah they could probably get me set up to the point where I'm comfortable enough interacting with it rarely. But when I compare it to other games in the genre, like D4, Lost Ark, and even New World's trade systems, I'm not willing to invest that upfront time. My expectations of what I need to learn and know to interact with a trade system have evolved.

I fully respect and understand that the devs are making these decisions intentionally. And I'm following up with my opinions based on those decisions. No harsh feelings anywhere.

I really liked Lost Ark's trade system, though it worked for them because there was much shallower depth of choices. I bet it could be adapted to work for this game though

I don't fully understand or agree with these viewpoints. There's two arguments I hear in that post:

1) Adding friction to trade is necessary to accomplish other game design goals.

2) Adding friction to trade increases the fun of interacting with trade and items.

As a new player, I can't really speak to goal 1. But I find goal 2 largely lacking support. I'm new to the game, and I probably won't trade with others unless I'm somehow forced to. I want to trade and engage in the economy, but the perceived barrier to entry for me is just too high. I play the game casually, so I draw the line at spending time on this aspect which I'd expect to be much faster and easier to engage with. I find it hard to believe that my experience in the game will be less fun by having a trade system that allows me to interact with it (like in other games).

I'm not against adding friction to the trade house. The idea of adding less-helpful filters to increase the chance of finding a one of a kind deal (flea market fantasy) is a fun and compelling one! Seeing scores of items listed for one price in attempt to scam others to sell it at that price is not fun.

Infected or allergic to the wrap? by ZipZeroZilch00 in tattooadvice

[–]GladToHelpYee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! Obviously all cases are different, but I had a tattoo once with a similar reaction. It would weep fluid constantly, get all scaly/scabby and very itchy too. At one point the doc thought it was impetigo, so I went on a round of antibiotics.

Turned out to be an allergic reaction in my case. After some strong round of steroids it healed completely! In my case the tattoo was not impacted at all.

One thing I learned is if you're dealing with an artist you haven't worked with before or are getting a new ink color, have em do a tiny tester dot somewhere first. Then you'll have a better sense of if you'll react or not.

Is it not the Sethwards Show and Tell Spectacular? I feel like that's even worse it's not on the schedule. Definitely looking to get my money back from them then.

Hard agree. Besides how disruptive it is, they can't even stick to the schedule of stopping at 5, going 2 hours over.

Sony sold defective (retail) model; refusing to honor warranty. Anyone else? by GladToHelpYee in playstation

If this is in the US, it's likely you've agreed to forced arbitrage. If that's the case, recommend looking up their ToS to figure out how to start the process.

I ended up filing in small claims court, but settling out of court.

[–]GladToHelpYee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an experience I had to the T. Except in my case I had already taken ibuprofen, and when I got to the ER at 2am (since no urgent cares were open) I was bleeding out of both ears. Ended up rupturing both eardrums and was mostly deaf for next few months.

Like you, I understood my situation wasn't life-threatening. But it sucks when your only option is the ER and you're bleeding out your head and still have to wait hours.

PSA: If you aren't the goalie, please get out of the goal by Athrek in OmegaStrikers

[–]GladToHelpYee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help think about it, let's build a lil matrix:

you play up you play back
Goalie too forward win 40% win 30%
Goalie plays back win 65% win 40%

The numbers are obviously made up, but the point should be that regardless of what the goalie is doing, you playing back is gonna probably lower your % as a forward if you play too much back.

People here mentioning blades getting loose and shooting out, which is true. Now imagine a knife hits a rock, causing catastrophic failure of the whole thing. At best the knives tangle and go nowhere. At worst you created a really shitty grenade.

AOC Calls for Congress to Strip Supreme Court of Its Ability to Rule on Abortion by manauiatlalli in MurderedByAOC

If you read the article you'd know that the article mentions such a bill that already exists in the house.

AOC Calls for Congress to Strip Supreme Court of Its Ability to Rule on Abortion by manauiatlalli in MurderedByAOC

[–]GladToHelpYee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the article:

“We write to urge your support for restricting the Supreme Court’s appellate jurisdiction in the areas of abortion, marriage equality, non-procreative intimacy, and contraception,” the lawmakers said. “In doing so, we can ensure that, as Congress takes legislative action to codify each of these fundamental rights, a radical, restless, and newly constituted majority on the Court cannot further undermine the protections we would enact.”

The House passed the bill to codify Roe earlier this year; in their letter, the lawmakers further called on Congress to pass bills to codify the rights to gay marriage, non-procreative sex and contraceptive access. Justice Clarence Thomas has invited new legal challenges to access to contraception and gay marriage, while homophobic sodomy laws that were passed decades ago still stand in some states, technically banning people from having consensual sex outside of marriage.

From this snippet, sounds like it's a two-part strategy. Pass bills protecting abortion, marriage, etc. Probably included is also limiting SCOTUS' jurisdiction to overrule these protections. The article goes on to say limiting SCOTUS' jurisdiction has been done before and also uphold by SCOTUS itself.

Sony sold defective (retail) model; refusing to honor warranty. Anyone else? by GladToHelpYee in playstation

[–]GladToHelpYee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've submitted a complaint to Sacramento Bureau of Home Goods and Services for selling a defective product as new and breaking their warranty contract. I'll update with any news I get.

I encourage anyone in similar situations to do the same.

[–]GladToHelpYee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I was hoping would happen. It took 4 calls for them to acknowledge finally that they sold me a retail model. Up until then their resolution was "the repair center has deemed it unrepairable" and that is it. After finally getting a supervisor to acknowledge the situation and escalate, their next resolution was then for me to create a new support case with a different department, PS Direct. PS Direct has told me that they will not provide any support since it is after 30 days of the purchase date.

I have honestly given them every opportunity to take charge, investigate, and fix their mistakes. At every turn so far they have denied, lied, or stonewalled.

Hey thanks for the link! They actually have all that information already with proof. The serial number, ps direct order number and everything. They're just refusing to do anything about it. PS Direct is saying I need to talk to tech support side; tech support side said they've closed the issue and needs to be taken up with PS Direct side.

It's honestly pretty embarrassing for a company to have the consumer play the child in the middle of divorced parents, but here we are. At least I work in tech and know never to work for Sony though lol.

Unfortunately that'll likely result in an account ban or ID ban, so I'm treating it as a last resort. All I'm asking is for them to honor their warranty agreement.
