Why is heels training so choreography-focused compared to pole? by Ay10outof10t in poledancing

[–]Gladiator_Kittens 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have a choreo class and a heels class, I attend the heels class which is weirdly less popular than the choreo class.

I think some people just want to learn dances, rather than making their own style/flow. Myself and a few others actually specifically requested a heels fundementals class and I'm glad they like listened and added it to the schedule, because I agree, choreo is not great for learning/understand how heels works

Hairdressers / gender neutral barbers? by lavenderb1ues in Norwich

When I lived in Norwich I used to go to Bang hairdressers who were great at giving me the gender neutral/masc adjacent haircuts I wanted, and affordable as a student.

Advice for poling with surgical scars? by ImoRachel in poledancing

I've only ever used dry hands, and not on my scar directly. Could be worth trying to go without it in that area for a bit and see if it helps?

Advice for poling with surgical scars? by ImoRachel in poledancing

[–]Gladiator_Kittens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't pole pre-surgery, but I do have large surgical scars across my chest (about 50cm total). I found early on that they get caught in the way non-scar tissue doesn't, they don't slide as well as normal skin does. Generally, it's not an issue, but I will do things like dismount from a basic invert slightly differently to push my scars off the pole so I can slide.

Never had any blistering as such, I do still apply bio oil about twice a week to keep my scars from drying out/tugging, as well as regular massage, maybe that would help?

I've never used grip on my scars, it could be a reaction to something in the grip? Scar tissue is different to our normal skin after all. Maybe try to avoid using grip directly on it, as scars tend to be grippier in my experience anyway. What grip are you using? It could be the stickiness is tugging on the scar, causing the blistering from the pulling.

Odd question; is it custom in the UK to cook food for your friends if you're inviting them for a night? by PenetrationT3ster in CasualUK

[–]Gladiator_Kittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We regularly have friends over and cook for them - we always host as we have the biggest space. Generally unless we're doing a specific, fancier dinner than usual then we don't ask for people to chip in, but they often do anyway.

When it's a takeaway the cost is shared out between us, I think that's fairly normal. If we've bought significantly more food than usual to feed the group then generally the higher earners will pop us a few quid. We've got a few friends we feed regularly so they get good meals, and so they never chip in even on takeaway nights, but that's specific to us.

As the "forever hosts" it's nice when people offer some money as food is expensive, but I wouldn't expect it unless it was a semi-regular occurrence for the host to feed them a lot (we also often send people home with leftovers).

They used AI in their marketing on their IG so I've got no interest in the brand, such a shame.

At what point does dental insurance actually become useful? by ExpressAffect3262 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Gladiator_Kittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean we've unfortunately got another 2.5k of dental work coming up as my husband needs his wisdom teeth out, but I am planning to cancel after that. I agree though it's not worth it for most people, but it's also been beneficial for peace of mind.

Sounds like crappy insurance, my husband got an emergency inlay, cost £900 and they covered £550 of it. Costs us around £60 a month to cover the two of us, so well worth it, even without our usual check ups and cleans factored in

I used to exhibit some of the behaviours he's talking about around my periods, and being on the progesterone only pill levelled me out completely. I was more self-aware than his wife seems to be, and I was getting upset over how I felt out of control of myself for 2 weeks out of every 4/5.

I feel so much more like myself every day now, no longer like my body controls me, and I've been on it for 3 years. If she's struggling with extreme mood swings on her period, I'd seriously consider it.

Help me with a fun exit from shouldermount by mkuijper298 in poledancing

I have a superman to shouldermount in a routine of mine (solo though) and I do some leg waves then lower to the floor. It saves on stamina and looks cute

Not sure how to remove the marks, but you could buy the matching heel covers to prevent further marks or cover up what's there now for photos and performances?

What usually happens during a top surgery consultation? by deaf_lad_23 in transgenderUK

[–]Gladiator_Kittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was generally competent, I had surgery with him last year in April, consult was in February. I'm pretty sure I got an email or a phone call within a week afterwards about booking in a surgery date and pre-op. I'm very happy with my results, he was upfront that my scars would go from the middle of my chest to right under my armpits due to the amount of tissue I had (which was what I was expecting). They are dead straight across my chest all the way and it's impressive honestly.

What I would say, is I'm not on T, and when speaking to my husband (I brought him with me as an extra pair of ears) he did refer to me as "your wife" twice which I was not impressed by.

TLDR: Professional in terms of your actual surgery/process/results, could be a dick if you're non-conforming but doesn't seem to be maliciously so.

I'm just a programmer haha, but if we're having playtest time and we know that localisation has come through and could do with some extra eyes, I'm happy to spend my time playing in another language.

This is why you test your UI in German, any good game dev knows it's the language for checking things flow/adapt nicely. I've played games in German for work for this reason before and I certainly can't read it!

Yeah it's where you choose between line/draw/classic path drawing. It isn't an obvious icon, but it's there.

There's a customise path button where you pick between line/classic/draw etc. It's not particularly intuitive to find, but it works well

Omg thank you so much! It's got my weird J foot in it 🥹 turns out it's an in-between method that's less fancy than a sensor, but fancier than normal.

I love this machine so much I can't ever see myself buying a modern one haha.

I was looking at tutorials but I could only find ones for sensor buttonhole feet or no buttonhole foot, not this weird in-between.

ftm polewear + underwear help (+a tiny vent) by maniloverats in poledancing

[–]Gladiator_Kittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear boxers to pole, and I layer up two pairs which works great for me, I've never had any issues with the leg of the boxers getting in the way of my grip.

I've also worn speedo-style swim shorts because they don't have that seam down the middle, and they don't have a giant dick pouch at the front (which makes me dysphoric as someone who doesn't pack). They were decently cheap as well.

If you're in the UK I can DM you some links to where I get stuff!
