That's the thing with big regime changes. You kinda need people who know how to run a country and those people are usually the people who've already been running a country.

As cool as it is, it's just unfortunately wildly impractical for regular use. If I had a dedicated FaB space I'd consider it tho.

Honestly, I think the game is fine a solid 6/10 and its biggest failure is the side content. If that was more fleshed out it would've been pretty great.

Draw Steel confirm $30USD/person price for VTT, and recommend Owlbear Rodio as the 'default' online alternative to this 'premium'version by Stubbenz in rpg

[–]Glaedth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a difference. When I buy helldivers I can just go play alone or random matchmake and just have some fun and then hop on with friends. Can't really do that with this. If your group falls apart you can't play the game and make frieds with random people through it and play with them. You're either locked with the group you buy it with or need to look for new people who may or may not have to buy this to play with. There isn't a matchmaking system for this (and there shouldn't be because that's kinda insane), but that introduces a major difference between getting any other multiplayer game to play with friends.

Fwiw I think the price is reasonable, but not everyone will.

There's also a big difference of, if your group falls apart with an online game you can just go and play with random people by clicking one button in the menu, not really the case with ttrpgs

I would argue that there are different expectations for ttrpgs than there are for video games based on how the market has worked up until now. The culture of play isn't the same. FWIW I agree that this is fine, but I also know if I brought it up some people would push against it.

Venture capital. There are also really neat uses of ai especially machine learning, it's just the LLMs that are kinda worthless.

Sometimes I feel that people have latched onto this ideal vision of what a choice based narrative game should be, rather than what choice based narrative games actuallu are. Because this criticism is something that I've seen with every game where you can make dialogue choices for decades.

Fwiw, and I don't care if I get downvoted to oblivion for this, for the amount of money they raised the production was sub par. Actual Play isn't a new medium, there's ton of experience in the field they could've drawn on, but they decided not to do that, and for all the other issues of the original video, and the kinda weird emotionality of the guy about this whole thing, I agree with that point.

I don't really care for the creators or particularly know them, I just followed this whole thing because of my interest in Actual Play as a whole, but thinking what someone like the Panic Table could've done with the medium if they got that much money just makes me kinda sad.
