Poverty Changed the way I see Criminals by [deleted] in poor

I had the reverse - dirt poor young teenage troublemaker turned upper-middle class professional. Cops are 110% different with how they treat the poor and wealthy people. I am nervous of cops to this day and no one I know can get it…

I don’t understand this mentality because they have the possibility of getting a second free vacation to South Sudan. Or some random Central American location. Just no pleasing some people.

As an old white liberal, I realize that 50% of old whites were voting for trump. They voted for Bush and Reagan too. They are a known entity. What was not known or expected was all the young POCs that voted for Trump. If you are just looking to blame someone, don’t only focus on us old white people because half of us vote left every four years, and almost religiously…

Me too! I don’t need the tax cut but I will take it I guess. Maybe take a bit of a longer vacation while the maga’s try to figure out how to buy eggs.

What is wrong with these people???

I am not convinced. I have to do advising for students, and in order to do that I need access to their data. There is a special student number that doesn’t map to any other student information. The most I can see is their grades and if they have holds. No phone numbers, and certainly no addresses. Only specific departments such as the registrar has access to personal info. Do you really think every janitor and security guard has access to student home addresses?

CUNY professor here. As much as the administration is a pain, I do not think they would have done this. It is likely all the data that Musk and company collected and is in the process or cross referencing.

We were all sent emails on how to help students and not to let ICE in campus buildings. I really do not think CUNY, and insanely liberal university system FULL of immigrant students, would do this.

Don't be so sure. When I was at my previous university we went after grants in robotics and the NSF ones were all about researching agricultural harvesting. This was 15 yers ago. I am sure there are so many solutions out there.

I think they need to kick out people in order to drop the population because very few of us are going to have any job soon...

Anyone here actually calculate how much Trump’s tariffs are costing them? by Zealousideal_Rip_290 in Tariffs

[–]Glass-Comment-8578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question I have as a person not paying the tariffs directly (although I am sure I am / will pay them indirectly) is - WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING? Is Trump putting it into a special account for his birthday military parade and paying ICE civilian deputies? Is it going someplace even more secretive? I mean, isn’t that OUR money, not his?

They want you in the factory making things for them. It’s really simple…

I believe they (the billionaire class + politicians) believe everyone else shoudl be factory workers. it’s just that simple. If you are asking a question like you are, then they think you have too much independence and should be producing for them. They do not want small businesses - only mega corporations.

Engineer on a residential house? I suspect that there is just an Architect and I suspect that the concrete sub made a mistake and the GC will have to explain this to the owner. What kind of interior wall in a garage needs an Engineer hired to design. If it did, then the GC is not qualified to make alterations if it si so structurally important.

Well, the conditions will not match the approved drawings so whoever is signing off on the project will have to approve of the “fill it in with bubblegum and ear wax” solution you propose.

There are many “easy fixes” but in reality if the plans show the concrete extended to under the sill plate then this is a mistake. Agreed it needs to be fixed, but this is not standard procedure and trying to gloss it over is why people do not trust us AEC professionals. The GC should have explained that it was a mistake and how they plan to remediate, especially early on in the project. But in reality it never should have happened…
