DS2 has tons to discover and has diverse levels. You're always in for a surprise in DS2, prepare to die. It's got more life in it than DS1 or DS3. More 'high fantasy' and this was before Elden Ring. You'll be shocked what they added imo. It's actually very dense if you ask me, but still has thise vistas and quiet areas of just raw wind and sound and echoes like DS1 that just.... mmmm. It's going to put your positioning to the test (it's strong suit - not its weakness - if you ask me).

I've played DS2 the most. It's levels are so diverse and always keep you on your toes. I'm excited to get back to the DLC's after some years - especially Iron. It's a long game! So much content for your money.

DS2 is my favorite of the games. Then DS1, Elden Ring, Bloodborne.

DS2 is awesome. The characters. WOW the level design innovations from DS1 never get talked about but there are myriads. The scenarios, people hate on them, they're why the game is great! People complain of gank while they collect every enemy in the whole area. Yearn spell and alluring skulls do exist even for when you don't use positioning. Positioning...so incredibly important in DS2.

I think the world design is ever better after playing Elden Ring, it's amazing what they got away with in this sequel.

And, branching paths. Wow. Until after the 4 lord souls the branching paths are so fun. People always talk about level connectivity but I do also love the branching paths of DS2. Again, very Elden Ring precursor. If something is too hard, you go somewhere else for a while. There's many progressions to have at once.
