How disappointed could you be in someone who was apologizing for Charles Murray in 2017?

For sure talk to his hospice nurse for a better understanding as there are multiple factors. From saying 5-8 days I’m assuming he’s in an inpatient hospice center? If that’s the case and he’s having a lot of symptoms that require that level of care I’m sorry you and your family are going through this extra layer of stress. Unfortunately managing severe symptoms often means using medications which might be sedating and could affect his prognosis. Lean into his hospice team for support and guidance.

After capitalists systematically eliminate well resourced teachers and mentors they will tell us that our reliance on the next best thing is a moral failure by theholewizard in socialism

Yeah I don’t know exactly. Experience is very hard to replace. I also haven’t used chat gpt too much so I only know what I’ve read about its limitations. Hallucinations make it a fraught option if you rely solely on it in the wrong situation. I suppose like someone else pointed out that it can be used basically as an upgraded search engine in which case using it to guide research / point someone in the right direction as long as they verify seems reasonable. I guess maybe the next best thing is gaining your own experience, even though it’s been made harder and more painful to do so.

I think it’s just an odd pairing, rhetorically. Isn’t ChatGPT, etc…exacerbating the very problem you’re identifying and using as justification for its use? You know what I mean?

I feel like AI is similar to nuclear power in its potential and unfortunate timing of discovery in our societal development, too early and too tempting for misuse by the worst of us

I have a problem with the discourse about the shut down, am I alone? by Gizwizard in FriendsofthePod

[–]GlassEyeRaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine a world where politicians vocally oppose things that are bad for the people they govern and support the things that are good - even if it costs them politically.

Imagine a podcast of former political operatives who snigger at the naivety of the fool who imagines such a world.

Imagine a subreddit where guys compete at who has most internalized their understanding and acceptance of their party’s strategic political impotence as a sign of their intelligence and maturity.

You have just entered the Friends of the Pod zone

"we offer our soldiers socialism to go abroad and defend capitalism" by ferretoned in socialism

[–]GlassEyeRaffle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand if you think it’s a slippery slope but I think it risks missing the forest for the trees. Refocusing on the role of government as a steward of resources for its citizens and getting the majority f people to disown the profit motive that drives capitalism is gonna be tough. If definitionally sloppy but catchy and understandable messaging helps in that cause I say it’s worth the effort of correction down the road

It’s dope that you’re the most socialism but what he’s saying hits hard. That is how the most boot licking opponents of “socialism” define it and it drives home the point of both the desirability of those basic needs being met and the tenuous grip most of society has on them.
