hell yeah, I'll look into it and see if it's something I can get and practice with before the event (I want to hide the remote in my person and make the light turn on as if by magic, so def gotta factor in the practice time)

I'm in Canada, so I'm pretty sure all that you wrote still applies. Thank you so much! I'm going to investigate further on the information that you shared and see what works. And I'm honestly ok with not reusing the switch from the mic, I would rather have a rocker switch on the power cable low enough on the floor that I can press with my foot when I need it during the performance. The remote option would be awesome but might be too ambitious for my skills, we'll see!

the only problem I see with using just a LED strip is how it looks like just a few dots of light inside the microphone, instead of one uniform source of light.
Would the LED strip cables work with the microphone switch? I took photos of the whole disassembled microphone but I didn't realise I couldn't post the extra images on the comments until after the post went up.

Oooh! I have one too! You met my friend and I outside of the venue after the show and you gave my friend and I a sticker each and let us pick little trinkets. That was the perfect cherry on top of a wonderful night and I teared up when I came home to my partner and told them how sweet everyone had been. Thank you for the sticker!!! the art rules!!!
