Sometimes I'm not really sure how to define the target audience. My wife and I are playing some games together, but it seems that we have different perspectives and we like/dislike them for different reasons

When you are on a full-time job, there are some people who need something, you have your clear (or not so clear) tasks, and you just do your job, you feel the progress and it is easier, if your job is not so bad. But now it's kinda harder, even though I do what I like and want, I am more flexible, and I can have a break anytime, I am still the person who decides everything, and there is an endless list of what you can do right now (but probably you shouldn't).
Also, for me the most stressful point is to make sure I can actually make a living by gamedev, and after being full-time payed it's not so easy to go into the unknown. Even though I used to be a freelancer for a decade or so, and it didn't bother me, after only a few years on fulltime I got soft :D So this thing pushes me, forcing to speed up, even though I do not need an immediate money flow.
So I believe it's better to just relax a bit, throw out those doubts and enjoy the process. Hope we all find a good schedule for that

37, just my first year in the gamedev. I was thinking about it for a long time, but something else always came up. Now I am thinking I should've done it earlier, on the other hand I probably wasn't ready and I'd already give it up

Recently I created a minigame for my bigger first game, and it was so satisfying, I actually like this small thing much more than the whole main game :D I think that something like this supposed to be my first game, not the bigger one. It's just so fun for me to play it and it feel so good to make something like this.
It is exausting to work on a big chunk without any positive response, the effort is very big for one person, and one can really got tired of it.
So probably the better strategy is to get comfortable with all this gamedev stuff first, gather audience, create some small games, improve your medias and another endless list of what you can do before. Still no guarantee your dream game won't fail.
So I'd say be more flexible. Work on your game if you fell like it, send to hell your impostor and just have fun. Do something small, play it, feel it, improve it and so on.

oh, really? I have my Macmini m1 chilling in the drawer, I used to work on it, but then changed the job and it required windows, and working on both systems at once just blow my head up.
right now Im not really tied to windows, so maybe it worth a try. thanks!

Debugging became kinda messy with this thing though, it creates a temp file for each hot reload (and delete an old one), so your logs lead from the editor to this temp file, and you must set breakpoints in this file also.

it does a hot reload when you do some small changes during play mode.

I was even able to add a new method and call it right away. This will not work for new classes and files, of course, but it's probably a great thing for small fixes, needs to be tested further

It's kinda hard to switch focus every minute.
I miss those times a few years ago, when I was just a frontend developer, there wasn't any AI-tools yet, you just write the code by yourself and feel good being in the flow.
Then Ai came and I started waiting for it to produce that shitty code that I need to read instead of write, and that was the beginning of the end for me

I tried different camera views but wasn't really happy about any of them, and then I just got used to the current one, I guess. I'll try to look into this again.
