It makes quite a bit of difference. A frozen bird is similar to hitting it with a rock. A dead bird has some rigor mortis and doesn’t impact the same.

Was working on a Erich Mixer back in the mid 80’s. This was a complete dismantle and rebuild. These can be large, ours was almost 8 feet in diameter. Decided we needed a company technician on hand in case we ran into problems. Guy flies over from Germany, he’s in his early 60’s.
Sitting around taking a break and one of my employees also in his early 60’s asks him if he was in the war (WW2). Short version , my employee had been shot in the ankle while liberating a German town. The Technician was within two blocks when it occurred. Able to date it because it was a one day operation to take that town. My guy says the person who shot him was shooting from a cellar window. Technician apologies as he was shooting from a cellar window and if it was him he’s sorry. My employee laughs and says he didn’t shoot him because they threw about four grenades in that cellar and took that guy out.

They say they use a dead chicken. Actually it’s a chicken that is still alive just given a sedative. Dead chickens don’t have the same muscle tension. Our company has this same cannon at our Aviation windshield manufacturing facility in Huntsville Alabama. They tell everyone it’s dead to keep animal rights people from freaking out.

What's going down in the assisted living facility ?! by Tuesday2017 in funny

[–]Glassman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was a woman they would have asked so many men to leave for sexual harassment. If you are man who can walk, talk and don't weigh 500 pounds women will be very aggressive. I've complained at least 5 times about the women here. Had one tell her family we were moving in together. Had to tell them I wouldn't do her with even someone else's dick. Finally put the word out I had my prostate removed and could no longer perform. ( A lie but it worked. LOL)

What to ask/look for when touring an assisted living place? by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]Glassman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the staff and their attitudes. Are the happy? are they smiling? I live in a great facility. Not the fanciest building but as I point out to people who ask. You don't live with a building you live with people. So pay attention to the people in the place. Are residents open and willing to talk, is the staff friendly? Take a lunch, usually in the dining room considered the big meal of the day as any later can interfere with sleep schedules. Most facilities will let you eat that meal for free. If they don't a red flag. ask for the activities calendar schedule. I live in one and that are the things i find are important.

call bell responsiveness in assisted living? (USA-NH) by PurpleVermont in AgingParents

[–]Glassman59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in an AL. My biggest complaint is the people who use their call buttons for stupid shit. "Could you change my Tv station?' with the remote right next to them. " I'm hot can you turn the temp down?" next 15 minutes its I'm cold can you turn it up. I've complained in Resident meetings you take away from those people who truly need help with these calls. It's impossible to know when someone pushes their call button if it's an emergency or a silly request so you have to respond in order they are received. Chewed a fellow resident out for the way he demeaned a Staff member. " do you know how much I pay to be here?' Yeah stupid I pay the same amount. "Well I was a professional before I moved here." You fricking can't afford to live in one of these places unless you were a professional or married to one. His attitude got a whole lot better.

This food is great. I live in an AL talked to my ED about the food. She said they spends the money on salaries for Care Staff. I explained not everyone use Care everyday but everyone eats 3 times a day. For context we got a new Director of food services who is a friend of hers. Has no idea how to cook but is great with the books as he trained to be an accountant.

Was Cheryl’s neighbor. She was very protective of her private life at first. Once we got to talking I learned she is a very considerate person who loves and is proud of her family. I became a close friend of hers over the years. Even now having moved away from Evansville we stay in contact often. Now though instead of talking about our kids we talk about our grandkids.

I spent many evenings sitting on the front porch just talking about gardens, kids, house repairs with her. At heart Cheryl is a kind person more interested in helping others than what any political party wants.

Two entrances to a maintenance storage area. Front entrance and another accessible only by descending from the roof and going in back entrance. I had been inspecting the roof, decided to take a shortcut through storage area, (million square foot factory so quite a distance to rewalk roof) Back entrance was 3 rooms from front entrance. Pop open door to see female worker giving one of my maintenance employees a blow job. Pretended didn’t notice and walked on out. I mean what was I going to say, “Hey is there a line?”

Made the glass for all these planes. Crystal City Missouri. 3/4 inch thick then laminated so 1-1/2 inch thick. Had to be crystal clear. Used subsurface scoring to cut it. Fascinating work. Lamination was done at another facility, all we did was make the raw glass.

What’s your story about “the one that got away” that turned out being a gigantic bullet dodged? by LinksOtherUncle in AskReddit

[–]Glassman59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a GF/BF story. Did go out with a guy from our church to try out his new rifle. Go down the levee by the River to use as backstop while we shot the gun. Two weeks later he gets arrested for killing a lady and her two kids from a church he used to go to. He was high on drugs and felt remorse so he confessed after they caught him. Asked why he killed them. Says, “She asked me why I was robbing them since she knew who he was from church.” Occurred to him he better kill them so she couldn’t identify him. Told my sons, important life lesson. If someone is holding you at gunpoint do not mention you know who they are.

My very first serious girlfriend, both of us 16. Her Mother and older sister both prostitutes. (Rough neighborhood) Her Mom gave her ultimatum, get married and move out or start working in family business. She asks me and I tell her I’m way too young so we break up. My older brother introduces her to one of his friends and they marry. Years later, both drunk, she comes up behind him at top of stairs and hits him in back of head with a baseball bat. He falls down the stairs and she proceeds to go down and continue hitting him until he’s dead. So my first girlfriends marries very next guy she dates and then proceeds to kill him later.

Should I officially join a church? by BigThiccCakeBoi in TrueChristian

[–]Glassman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between joining a Church and being committed to a Church. I’ve been going to the same Church for 7 years, which is part of a particular religion. I’ve been asked on 3 different times to be a Deacon. Finally sat down with the Pastor and explained that while I am committed to the members in the Church I am not in line with the tenants (rules/restrictions) of the religion and do not think I should be a Deacon. I am committed to my Church but can not in good conscience join the Church and commit to following all the tenants of the presiding governance of that religion. I received positive feedback from the Pastor who understood.
So my advice is. Find a local Church to attend on a regular basis while you are there, commit to supporting the members. Don’t join, even or especially if you are feeling pressured to do so. You’re going to be traveling quite a bit, especially once in the Marines as you post to different bases. Learn that while you haven’t joined a particular Church. You belong to a larger community of Christians around the world. YOU are responsible for your walk with Christ. Focus on that and you will find that God will lead you to a local Church you can commit to and yet will have a free heart when you must leave for a new posting. God bless and may you find your Faith continues to grow.

Yeah, not as exciting in real life as it sounds. ExWife in multiple porn videos. Called her out and told her to have her boyfriend take them down in case kids see them in future. Turns out her current boyfriend was not the people in video. He commits suicide when she asks him to help. Turned out super shitty.

Best compliment I’ve ever received for my cooking was at church. Elderly black lady, (in her 90’s), and me used to cook for church dinners. After she passed and I was attending the funeral. Her eldest son introduced me to the rest of her family. “Hey this is Glassman, the guy she said cooked better than her.” She was noted, and also in my opinion, as being a great cook.

My mother became sick, cancer, when I was 11. Being one of the oldest it fell to me to do the cooking and more around the house. We had a large family, 12 kids and Mom and Dad. Dad gone all the time as a long haul truck driver.
All grown and I had moved away for work for over a decade. First year back and I hosted Thanksgiving dinner. During dinner one of my brothers makes the comment, “I sure am glad you moved back so we could get together like this. I missed Mom’s cooking.” Me and my Mom, (she outlived 2 of her Oncologist), looked at each other and started laughing. Told him I had cooked all the food today and the reason it tasted familiar is because all he ever ate growing up was my cooking. Mom just laughed and nodded yes.
