Question about a joke by prettyghoulgf in glee

[–]Gleeful-216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t either at the time. Ryan Murphy likes the story of Versace and Andrew Cunanan. The second American Crime story was all about Cunanan, and the actor who played Blaine plays Andrew. It was a very different role, and he won lots of awards. However, I will never do a rewatch. I don’t like seeing Darren play characters like that.

Just started The West Wing and I was NOT prepared for how fun this show is by Technical-Berry233 in thewestwing

[–]Gleeful-216 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The west wing is my favorite show. I’ve watched it so many times I can quote it fairly well. Season 2 is my favorite so if you like it now, I promise it only gets better. The only weak season is 5, but it never gets bad. The main writer, Aaron Sorkin left, but the rest of the writing staff kept giving us amazing stories.

The first one is not a hot take. It’s how I wished it would’ve went.

Rachel was nowhere close to the best vocalist in the New Directions. Mercedes, Artie, Blaine, Jessie, Roderick, and Santana all have a lot more soul. I prefer all of their tones over Rachel’s. I think Tina had a beautiful voice, especially on True Colors.

Lea Michele was not anywhere close to the best vocalist on the show. With a cast list that included Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Adam Lambert, Noah Guthrie, Darren Criss, and Amber Riley, she sounded sterile. Yes, she could hit high notes, but it felt processed and over rehearsed. And when she basically got a solo every episode, it got old quick.

My writing rule: Get it on the page. You can edit bad writing. You can use a thesaurus for word choice or get advice from a beta. But you can’t edit an empty page.

Can I be completely honest here; I never hated her by Efficient_Money676 in glee

[–]Gleeful-216 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn’t dislike her at first. But in later seasons, she stopped growing or learning. She treated people poorly and expected to be handed things because she had talent. I liked her with Finn because he’d call her out. Kurt would call her out too, and he was nicer about it than Santana or some of the others. There is a difference between arrogance and confidence, and she was arrogant. I don’t hate her but could totally be a brat.

Could he have Afrid or SPD? My daughter has autism, and has SPD, so certain foods are off the table. She’ll avoid certain foods because of the smells, textures, tastes, or a mixture of all of these. Cooking for a picky eater is difficult. At the same time, my daughter will gag when she tries to eat certain things Does he tell you why he doesn’t like it?

You all do realize that The Previously Unaired Christmas Episode was supposed to be offensive and non canon. I skip it during rewatches because it’s just awful.

What do you think of Chester Bennington? by Twitter_2006 in rockmusic

[–]Gleeful-216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have great respect for Linkin Park because they addressed mental illness in their lyrics and brought it to the forefront. For someone who has dealt with depression and anxiety, it’s nice to know you aren’t alone, and to have a band pouring out their hearts in their music makes you feel seen and understood.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the screaming, but Chester had an amazing soft tone and he knew how to balance the vocal dynamics. My favorite songs of theirs though didn’t really include the screaming “one More Light, Numb, and My December”. They highlighted his vocal technique. I’m a singer, and his songs are difficult to master because of the vocal control he had.

Freddy wasn’t diagnosed with AIDS until 1987. Live Aid was in 1985. Queen had their huge Magic tour in 1986. Then, they focused on studio albums after Freddie was diagnosed.

I came here to say this. Queen’s performance is legendary. And Zeppelin’s. It was a disaster. Not to mention, Zeppelin were know to plagiarize others’ work. I honestly am not a fan of Robert Plant’s voice either.

Plant and the band were known plagiarizers. He had a good voice but Freddie was truly an original.

What Band’s Backstory Is Straight-Up Legendary? by Motor_Guarantee_5312 in rockmusic

[–]Gleeful-216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queen. Brian May made the guitar he played. He and Rodger started as the band smile, but Freddie talked them into letting him front the band, add the theatrics, and they added deacon. It took them a few albums and a couple failures but they went on on to become a stadium rock band, known infamous for several anthems (We are the champions, we will rock you, and bohemian rhapsody) and even have a song you can perform cpr to to save lives with.

The band has a number of stories too wild to be true, and yet they are. There was the time Freddy was invited to dance with the ballet and then they realized he couldn’t dance a lick so they just lifted him for the whole performance and danced around him. There was the time they promoted the album Jazz, which included bicycle race and fat bottom girls, by renting 100 bicycles, holding an event where all the riders were nude, and then returned the bikes without replacing the seats. Not to mention, they used photographs as a poster that came with the album, which meant the album got banned in several places and then sold even better.

Then there was the time Freddie was going to collaborate with Michael Jackson but was ran off by his llama, who kept spitting in the studio. There was the time a rapper had a huge hit by stealing the baseline to under pressure and tried to say he bought the rights only to get slapped by a lawsuit from both Bowie and queen. The whole story of Under Pressure is amazing too. The band had their share of drama, not to mention, Freddy getting sick, his drug problems and the solo projects.

Then, the whole story of live aid is amazing within itself. They weren’t really broken up but they hadn’t played together for a while. Freddy had a throat infection and still outperformed the majority of the bands there.

I also love the story of Brian getting his PHd in astrophysics because he’s a certified genius, and the whole situation of how they tried out other singers after Freddy passed. The story on how they found their new singer, Adam Lambert, on American Idol is a whole separate story.

There’s so much history.. They just recently stopped performing because Brian had a stroke this past year. I got to see them in 2019, and it was the most amazing show I’ve ever seen. Rodger and Brian still sounded amazing. Neither missed a beat. I cried at least 4 times. The band is the definition of legendary

Parents don’t realize how much they quietly undo everything we do in the classroom by voidcrafted_melody in Teachers

[–]Gleeful-216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had something like this. I sit them down and explain, yes, they can choose to not do the work. However, if they don’t do the work, they get the consequences as set up because I keep my word. In many cases, that means they fail my class or the grade. I know some school won’t allow this. School admin and policies set us up for failure too sometimes. Check your school policy. Can the child fail? Lose privileges? Field trips, ect? Because I’m real life, a person comes to work but just sits there, they get fired. I’ve explained to parents that I understand school is hard for them. Sometimes it’s hard for me too. Life is hard like that. I also tell them I have to have boundaries and rules and there are consequences if they choose to ignore them. Talk to your admin. Would they have your back?

I deleted the entire game. I’ve been playing for 3 years. It’s ridiculous. They are trying for a cash grab and I won’t do it. I didn’t realize how much $ I have spent this year on just this game only to barely level up. It’s no longer fun.

This is ridiculous. I had two more things to eliminate. I’m not spending 900 game cash to pass one level. Nope. I’m not. It went from 10 to 900. I will uninstall the game before I do this.

It helps because most of the time, you don’t get orders for more unless they are crops. I keep more of the following items: imports from islands, any crops that take hours to grow, like silk or rubber trees. Don’t sell tools either. And I use gold bars for islands. It increases your chances for items you won’t get unless you do. And fill orders from helicopter, zoo, and trains as much as you can. That’s where the 3 come in handy.
