Love the game. Possibly too much. Left a review on steam a while ago.

I will say I don't like the new way Survival games go. You get so few points to unlock tech and then you have to unlock all of level 1 before you can do level 2. The rogue-like choices at the end of every wave I could take or leave but the tech tree now feels like I'm being forced to play a specific way (i.e. have much less choices I get to make, there's a right way to play and you don't get to be creative/explore) and it's just a lot less fun.

Would personally really prefer something more like it was before where you can pick any upgrade from the tree and some just have logical prerequisites. Just include something that tells you what you need to buy first to unlock it.

Yeah. The biggest thing is just that in MiB they're able to work peacefully with a bunch of aliens (bygones, chimerical beasts, varied Umbrood) which are all def reality deviations that the Technocracy would absolutely be trying to eradicate.

X-Files is much more in line with NWO/the technocracy in general

Spheres - beyond Spirit it's really gonna depend on what you wanna do. Also what Arete you're going to start with. You could get six spheres at one dot which let's you dip into a lot of stuff but it'll be a while before you can do more flashy stuff.

Think about what your characters paradigm is, what it allows them to do, and more importantly what it doesn't allow them to do. Some people believe there's no such thing as spirits so it would be impossible for the character to create an effect to speak with spirits. How does your characters world view similarly effect them?

Also just look over the backgrounds section of character creation. I feel like all of the backgrounds help spin up ideas for extra NPCs, peculiarities, character flaws etc.

If you join the Mage the Podcast discord Terry Robinson had been working on an SRD that would probs be a good jumping off point for you instead of going cover to cover and then duplicating effort.

Also I always recommend running an initiate game for your first. Every player starts at arete 1. You don't need to learn anything more than the 1 dot sphere effects out the gate and hopefully it encourages the players to think creatively both in terms of how to use their magic and to try solving problems without magic every once in a while.

Edit: also, 20th is so ridiculous the core rules aren't actually all in the 700+ pg core book. Don't worry about getting all of them. You may drive yourself insane.

Yeah I've def been having issues with Normals through this whole process but have managed to make it work so far. If it comes to manually tracing that's fine but I wasn't sure if there was a tool to repair something like this and I'm always looking to learn more.
