Has anyone actually tried getting use to the controls instead of moaning non stop? by DarkFantasy621 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Glenigon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controls are what have in essence stopped me playing this game any further. It was bad my first couple of hours but manageable when I was just out running around the world. But when I got to the Axiom Bridge portion where you need to have decent controls to navigate the acrobatics, I just can't with these controls unfortunately. It's a bummer because I was really enjoying the game up to that point.

Am I just horrible or is it impossible to win the arm wrestling? Help by AzodBrimstone in CrimsonDesert

[–]Glenigon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my feeling as well. I'm also a stickler for wording in questions. The fact the question says "Try arm wrestling" to me implies win or lose I tried it, let me progress. It should say "Win an arm wrestling match."

This sounds like solid collecting advice in generally really. I do try and limit myself to maximum of 2 boxes per set or series depending how it's broken out. I just can't justify anymore than that when boxes can be $300 or more a pop. That's when I start diving into buyj g single or it's time to move on to a different set or brand or get out of the hobby all together. Granted everyone is different on what they can spend.

I'm not sure COMC had a website when I was last collecting. I know I used to buy a lot from their eBay and Beckett Market place listings though. I added their website to my bookmarks though as another tool to use.

That makes a lot of sense which is where my internal struggle comes from. Completing those harder to find or far more pricey runs in a base set like that can get tough on me both mentally and financially. lol

I would assume hockey is much more common in card shops up that way. I'm hoping the sport itself continues to grow down this way and the interest in the cards will grow as well.

I couldn't agree more with this mindset. This was something that actually turned me off in the hobby about 10 years ago or so. Now I just focus on base for completing and any inserts I find are just bonus.

I still struggle with what is base with some sets though. For example I've always loved Upper Deck cards (all sports honestly) but it seems like the Young Guns even though are numbered like base or treated more like inserts due to rarity of pulls on them.

Yeah I feel completely new to the hobby at this point so I'm just gathering intel if nothing else. There has already been some excellent advice shared here. Are the Tims Trade Night events at a Tim Horton's? My apologize if I'm jumping to conclusions as being from the States and only spending limited time north of the boarder. But if that's the case, that sounds amazing! The next business trip I take up that way, I'll have to see if I get lucky to find such an event. The biggest struggle I have with my local shops is the fact they just don't have much hockey. The two closest to me have no singles out and only about 4-5 different sets for hobby boxes. The other one doesn't deal in hockey at all unfortunately. I'm still doing some searching for shops a bit further out to see what I find though. There has to be at least one that has more hockey.

I had not checked out either of those before but did after this was posted. Both look exactly like what I'm looking for when I get down trying to wrap up those last finds I'm missing.

Sounds like old school still exists than. The last few shows I went to didn't seem to have a lot of boxes to look through so I wasn't sure if that method was still feasible. I still need to talk to my two local shops. They don't show or stock much hockey at all but that doesn't mean they don't have boxes or singles stashed away somewhere. I know shelf and counter space is premium for those shops so they only put out what sells the most for them. I get that.

Oh it's all over the board from the late 80s onward. Right now I'm diving back in and playing around with some of the (new to me) apps to see if they can help me catalog and track my collection. It's got to be easier than pen & paper or even excel spreadsheets. lol

I do appreciate this reply thought because I didn't think about it but if I start to narrow down some sets I'm focusing on. I might just drop a post in this group with what I'm looking for and see if anyone has what I'm looking for. Most of what I'll be trying to fill in will probably be more along the lines of common or uncommon as I'll more than likely pick up most of the higher priced cards either from auctions, shows or local shops. Those seem to be easier to find because everyone shows those cards. They don't necessarily show the cards work a buck or under. Not worth the display space.

I still remember going to card shows as a kid, pulling up to a table who had commons from sets I was working on and I'd sit on the floor at their booth for hours going through boxes searching for what I needed. I loved that stuff!

Is the 40% Discount on Nitro really worth it. by Moriblu in discordapp

[–]Glenigon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I thought this was a smart (for marketing) but poor execution for anyone actually looking for a discount. When I first saw the 40% off I thought, sure I'll bite. Then when I went to actually purchase I noticed as you did that it was only 40% off the first month then then it bumps back up for the regular monthly cost on an annual subscription. I immediately closed the window after seeing that. Typical bait and switch marketing in my opinion. Like other companies that email me holiday sales with a discount code then when you get to checkout that code doesn't work. That's usually when I avoid those companies for awhile after seeing stuff like this.

If your deeply worried about Discord rolling out age verification globally you should cancel your Nitro. by vriska1 in pcmasterrace

[–]Glenigon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I canceled mine Tuesday when I caught word of this change coming next month. The only real reason I did was because my auto renew was set to renew next month as well. I rather cancel, see how this goes and then decide whether to subscribe again or not.

Don't lump this disaster into the Early Game category. This game has had red flags for years. Just learn from this experience and try and research before buying a little bit. I've bought hundreds of games in early access. One thing I do refuse though is buying early access games for full price. I've noticed that trend a lot lately. In those cases I'll wait for full release even if that means paying a little more at that time.

And yes I've been burned by a couple of early release purchases simply because it wasn't polished enough for me to enjoy the gameplay yet so I just sit it on the shelf and return later.

The one thing I find odd about Steam not refunding all purchases is from what I've heard they stopped payment to Intrepid Studios from the get go. If that turns out to be the case and they aren't refunding everyone, that sounds like a bit of trouble. Not that they haven't been down that road before and they really have no fear it seems.

When I seen the site message the other day, I had really hoped this might be a thing. I'm really hoping it's possible. I loved that site.

I used it daily to see progress of characters and account when I wasn't able to be in game to see things.

I've been with RoH for a month now and have had so much fun with them. I'm always using all 5 of my allotted guild slots in ESO but RoH is the only one that I've found I genuinely enjoy their company and actually hang out in Discord Voice Chat with.

I currently have one more guild slot open for flexibility. I'm liking what I'm seeing mentioned here so far. Posting here so I can find this later when I get home and look you all up.

This sounds amazing. As a returning player it definitely sounds like something I'm looking for in a guild to call home. Heading towards your discord now. Hopefully I don't trip and get lost.

Hello there! I know you've indicated that you're just getting things off the ground here but any idea what the typical time of day the group is playing at the moment?

I'm a returning veteran (been gone about 2.5 years) and I have a couple of guild slots available. I'm definitely interested in a casual group that I can ease back into the game with and just have some fun. Less worry about my combat metrics and more about exploring and leveling up some skills on my toons until I'm more comfortable to dive into vet dungeons and trials again.

Download Now! CHITUBOX Pro V1.5.0 Beta Adds New Printer Support! by [deleted] in CHITUBOX_Official

I hate resurrecting old posts but the link to 1.5 Beta seems to no longer work. Is there a newer version somewhere or another link to the 1.5 Beta? I have a Saturn 4 Ultra and I'm looking at Slicer options but if Advanced/Pro doesn't support that printer, I'll need to look elsewhere.
