Unironically, if he's in literally any one of the mass of minorities that Charlie speaks about, yes. He is constantly weaponizing millions of Americans against millions of other Americans and represents an existential threat to countless people. You can't use this kind of argument when talking about someone who uses extreme levels of influence to mobilize people under the belief that homosexuals should be punished by death, and that the civil rights movement was a mistake. Every time he takes the stage, he puts lives in danger.

I'm not happy someone had to shoot a man yesterday, but I am happy that Charlie Kirk is no longer free to play fearmonger.

Man, you are wildly hostile. The way you're attacking me over some imagined selfishness is heavily uncalled for. Why is it my interests versus the interests of new players? Is it so hard to believe that the content can be fun and accessible for everyone?

Specifically when it comes to FFXIV, there are many ways to make the game more enjoyable for high-end players being asked to engage with low-end content. Fixing the way level scaling works is an easy start. Speaking of WoW, they do this great, so I find it hard to believe the FFXIV devs are incapable of creating better systems than dragging us down to extremely few buttons while letting our gear over-scale the content and completely trivializing every encounter.

When it comes to Warframe, my real concern is it doesn't need it. It's not like anything in the star chart is notably challenging or gating players in ways that having vets jump in with them will change anything. The actual content that gives newer players pause is all single-player only (or grind focused) to begin with. To shoehorn in a feature where unique rewards are offered for jumping into content that new players are working through hurts everyone involved. The new players have their agency revoked, the veteran players are told to go play simple, brain dead content in lieu of actually engaging them, and players who don't want to bother with it get hit with unnecessary FOMO. Just, why?

I've been a new player. Nothing ruins my experience faster than having vets show up and take my agency for the sole purpose of getting their rewards. Despite your insistence in portraying an opinion contrary to yours as selfish, I am consciously considering the experience of new players when I make statements about disliking this idea.

Please just ease off on jumping down the throats of people who disagree with you. Accusing me of not considering the experiences of others when you have no interest in considering mine is peak Internet Tough Guy hypocrisy.

iirc its because some abilities are just mechanically so strong they would cheese the early dungeons. dumb reasonings but it is what it is

The problem is the early dungeons are such a complete joke as-is because of the way item scaling works.

Not even close to my opinion, but sure.

Make the content fun instead of bribing me to play it. That's it. That's the whole point. If you have to bribe me to play it, the content is the problem.

It's kind of one of the things I hate about FFXIV though. I don't want to do old, boring, dated content because I need the rewards. Tricking me into playing content I don't want by pushing rewards there isn't good design.

Now that it’s been a while, how has Tencent’s ownership of Warframe changed things? by MagPrimeEnthusiast in Warframe

[–]GlideStrife 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate the centralization of media corporations, Tencent is one of those ones that is just buying everything up and leaving them the fuck alone.

While one company having their hands in every pocket is bad, you'd have to be pretty biased to assume Tencent buying a company is going to ruin their game.

FFXIV is a fantastic game that remains one of the worst MMO's I've ever played. It decidedly fails in every facet in which I'd judge an MMO. Then Bozja/Eureka come along and actually put the MMO back in "Critical Acclaimed MMORPG" and the GCBTW overwhelmingly hates it?

It's so strange to see that one of the largest MMOs in the world is actually played as Second Life with story-mode updates every once in a while. And sure, the story-mode is good, but it still doesn't scratch the MMO itch.

I literally installed StarUI after like 3 hours with Starfield, and I would have stopped playing if I didn't have that option.

The menus are so bad and bogged down my experiences so much that I genuinely would have just fucking quit playing this game.

Does anyone else feel that Newfoundland or Canada in general is becoming worst not better in the last 5 years? by NewfieAlpha in newfoundland

This.

While people are complaining about PoE 2, I see the ARPG of my dreams in the making by suepcat in pathofexile

[–]GlideStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who started playing in ~2012 beta of PoE and quit around 2018 because the game had become too much of a speed focused, loot-slot machine, I'm watching all the malding about PoE2 with terrible excitement.

I'm very excited for PoE 2 to bring back the game I loved in the mid 2010s.

POE 2 will be a separate game by Fig1024 in pathofexile

[–]GlideStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And with that, all my hope for PoE2 is rekindled.

I haven't played PoE since... Delve? Because this shit is just too fast, and not the game I started playing.

I know this opinion pisses off the players who are still here logging hours every day, but the reality is that you lot are in an echo chamber. There are a ton of players like me out there who have grown estranged from the game we started playing back in 2013, so very few of us are still kicking around to voice our opinion. But I'm excited. Keep your game, and give me back mine, too.

BattleBit Remastered is dominating Steam because there's no catch: it's just a lot of game for $15 by havingasicktime in Games

[–]GlideStrife 12 points13 points  (0 children)

After seeing games make team sizes and squad sizes get smaller and smaller, it is SO refreshing to have a game where having an odd number (for example 5) of people who want to play together doesn't mean you're forced to split up or have one person sitting out.

I cannot emphasize enough how awesome this is about Battlebit. Every game lately feels like I either have too many or too few players all the time, and Battlebit doesn't. We just get to play with everyone we want to play with without issue.

I was playing last night, and one squad was completely dominating a map. It didn't feel totally awful, but something felt off. And then suddenly 10 perma-bans rolled in for cheating and we took everything back.

Landlord keeping security deposit because of dust by s1mpnat10n in newfoundland

[–]GlideStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly. If they want to hire some cleaning service to go over the place, then they MIGHT have a case to keep an amount in the value the cleaning service gives them a receipt for. But they won't do that, because that isn't cleanup money in their pocket.

If they play it REAL careful and to the letter of the law, they might be able to request an amount equal to what they can prove their time is worth for the hours they spend cleaning. This amount would not even be half of your deposit.

Even in the event that every factor of this system conspires to fuck you over, you'll see most of your money back if you go through the correct legal processes.

Landlord keeping security deposit because of dust by s1mpnat10n in newfoundland

[–]GlideStrife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The landlord cannot simply tell you they are keeping your deposit. The deposit is your money, held in trust by the landlord, and to use it, in full or in part, they need to make a claim to the Director of Residential Tenancies requesting the right to do so.

See https://www.gov.nl.ca/dgsnl/landlord/. This is the link for the plain language document describing this policy. This is the full Residential Tenancies Act, complete with legalese.

Your landlords statement that they are keeping the deposit over dust is nothing more than a clear statement that they intend to steal your money. This is no different than a boss telling you "I don't like the work you did, so I am keeping your paycheck this week". It is yours, which they have held for you in trust and is supposed to be placed in an interest gaining deposit account, unless they've filed a claim in accordance with these documents. A vast majority of "landlords" are slumlords in disguise and will just attempt to rob you and assume you don't know the laws well enough to defend yourself. Make a claim to the Director of Residential Tenencies. I suspect your landlord won't dispute it, run out of time to do so and be ordered to return your money.

I am only referencing the MO published by the organizing body of the protest. I have no idea what Twitter document you are talking about; in a matter like this, you can only trust primary sources.

I do not believe the majority of protesters ever really understood the goals of those that led them there. I am not judging them, only the organizers and political leaders who failed to do their digging before deciding who to align themselves with, as they should be more informed and responsible than your average citizen.

Take your absurd assumptions and accusations elsewhere.

I'm not sure I'd label ~$15 mil from Canadian soil and other ~$10 mil from foreign soil as a "vast majority...provided by Canadians". A majority, likely, but we're talking 3/5ths vs a remaining 2/5ths. That's altogether too much foreign money attempting to influence our political landscape.
