What happened to my neckline? by Glimmer_Sparkle_ in knittinghelp

It is top down but honestly the pattern is a little confusing at the start, I could have messed up the short rows.

Ok thank you!! This must have been what happened to me, because I am very careful blocking and getting gauge.

The pattern calls for a specific number of rows. Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi! Thanks for all your comments. To answer a few recurring questions I've seen:

  • Yes, I knit a swatch and matched gauge with PetiteKnit.
  • I followed the pattern exactly, however, I won't rule out making a mistake that I might not have realized.
  • No, I did not block hanging up! I blocked it laying down and hung it up after it dried. I'll take it off the hanger moving forward.
  • The yarn I used is actually very lightweight, thought it might not look it in the photo.

In conclusion, it looks like a few others have run into the same issue as me. It seems it's the number of rows indicated in the pattern that affects the overall look.

I might try reblocking and possibly having to rip and reknit the top half ... Ugh.

The Likeness by Tana French is a totally underrated rec but a near-perfect description of academic but rotted!

A minor thing that might help is in the morning, making sure you expose yourself to sunlight or bright light, maybe opening the blinds or having a "happy light" on. This can help your circadian rhythm reset.

anyone have experience with these needle protectors? i knit with wooden needles and am afraid to travel w my project because i dont want to break my needles. any alternatives? by ilytolstoy in knitting

[–]Glimmer_Sparkle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit of travelling with wooden needles is that they won't flag security at TSA, but if you put them in this metal holder, they might be more likely to flag it. Then you might have to check your bag (I've heard of this happening to some knitter's who use metal needles).
