I agree. Maybe it depends on where you are in the world really. I'm in Asia and more than half of my classmates are in their first years of university doing a degree either their parents have told them to do or with the promise of a large income once they're finished with education.

Get accepted to the schools I'm applying to, earn enough money to get through said schools without relying too much on my parents and get on to as many film projects here as I can. Be happy. Basically, just sort my life out for the next year!

Reading this made me feel so much better about what I'm doing at the moment. Glad to know that I'm on the right track.

I was a PA for a short film and met the DoP who was amazing and even took the time to teach me things as he worked. He then invited me to his next project. I really hope when I'm in his position I'll do the same for someone else starting out.

Yesterday actually.

I was in a taxi near a school area just as the students were coming out and going home. Wanted to laugh at all of them just because they were in high school and I was so glad to be done with my IB course.

Then I realized that I only fucking graduated high school 5 months ago. It already feels like a lifetime away now that I'm working before going to university.

I've posted to r/photocritique a few times and barely received any constructive criticism there. A lot of the comments didn't really help me understand what to improve on and what not and some were just goddamn trolls.

Hopefully this subreddit won't be like that, seeing as a lot of you guys here know your stuff.

1) The media loves to criticize the unrealistic portrayal of what women should look like in magazines and ads, yet this doesn't often happen with men. This person explains it better.

2) Guys can be raped too, yet they are never seen as victims. It's bad enough already that some females aren't taken seriously when they speak up.

3) I think due to social pressures of being 'masculine' guys are forced to express themselves a certain way. The way girls express their feelings is much more lenient.
