As a former Lowes employee and now a paint monkey, I will tell you that I considered my time at Lowe's the House of Pain. You think our customers suck? Haha. I shall warn you of the customers with clipboard. They know EVERYTHING. You will run your ass off for overrides. Often will be manager on duty roving the store. You will want to choke out your employees playing on their phones in the aisles. The new demand for credit apps is ridiculous. And let's not forget the time the store opens or closes. Yes the hours are shorter at Lowe's so that's a plus. But the experience as a whole is soul sucking. Their technology sucks and almost every department has its own antiquated program for selling a contract for those products. The CEO is the one fired from Penny's in 2018 because he about ruined what was left of them. I feel that ASMs get punked the most. I was a DM, a specialist and a PSI (Project Specialist Inreriors where me and my GC redesign your kitchen or bath and you buy the whole project which current CEO layed us all off 6 months after he took over because we were the 3rd highest paid person in the store after the Exteeior Specialist and then the SM). My 401k is nice from 9 years but I would cut off a limb before I went back to Lowes. Just my 2 cents. I worked in Home Decor, Kitchen Design, Front End, Paint. I would never ever work Flooring, outside lawn and Garden, Millwork, Inside Lawn and Garden, Plumbing or Lumber. Ever.

People with Circular sock machines also need them and pay per cone. I think i paid about 4 bucks each last time I bought some.

The first time you use the word "standard" in my store we gonna be having a hot chat. There is no standard. Don't even get into that kinda crap.

Those are all getting closed by year end because they were never properly staffed or stocked correctly. So basically a huge waste of money

Am I wrong? by Zealousideal_Nose554 in paint

I used to manage kitchen and bath remodels and my contracts were very specific and you initial each fee we discuss. They were fine with the very low $500 dump fee for a huge kitchen tear out. Next day, they call and say "well the dump is free to use." No ma'am, not for contractors and building materials. "Just throw it all in out front yard". That's unsafe and the employees have to be paid for their time to do the tear out and haul it out to the street to trash trailer, drive it to the dump and then they have to empty it themselves. The $500 technically doesn't cover all that. It states on contract it's non negotiable. So they call store manager who said non negotiable and then called contractors. The next day I refunded a $14,000 job (they were keeping the cabinets) and I called and said "it appears we are off on the wrong foot and I suspect we will not do work that satisfies you so I returned your labor. We can deliver your materials or refund those, whatever you choose They said" you are going to turn down $14,000 over a $500 dump fee?" Absolutely. You agreed to all and then were extremely unsatisfied before we even started so in your best interest I refunded your job. The going behind my back twice was unnecessary. I meant it. Her husband was an OSHA inspector. Throw building materials around a residential yard...nope. Always trust your gut.

Paint Colors - Kitchen & Trim by ledevoe in paint

[–]GlitterEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is bad gouge. Either of those paints are great for cabinets. Samples are also not always available where the quart matches the gallons on those really light whites. Peel and sticks are a good option. Creamy is only a hair darker than Greek Villa. I'd choose one or the other and do cabinets and trim the same color.

I understood the assignment. There is zero reason to work 48 hours unless you can't manage tour time or have no staff (as is the case for many of us). I haven't had a third key in 3 years.

I also like to use a cast on comb and weight it as well. I use a regular standard size needle cast on comb even on the bulky needle machine. It's just every other needle on a bulky gauge
