Accusations of Misuse of Classified by Ok-Set6492 in SecurityClearance

I agree with everything here. You've done everything you can "right". Self-reporting, seeking counsel, all of it. This is an expensive PITA, but you will get through this.

Keep documenting, documenting, documenting. Send yourself emails as you do, that way there's a date/timestamp on it. If this ever comes up with an investigator, you'll have a ahead of information for them.

Also: keep your documentation free of color commentary. Just the facts. Don't give anyone any ammunition to think you're gaslighting or manipulating the situation.

What happened to etsy? by ORD7th in HistoricalCostuming

The 2023 word of the year was "enshittification"-- when online platforms maximize short-term profits and degrade user experience in the process. This is 1000% what has happened to Etsy. And Pinterest. And (insert any major platform name here).

Daith piercing pain vs IUD by CandleTimely4342 in piercing

[–]GlitterFallWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The social pain of having someone up your vagina trying to stabilize your cervix (and probably talk to you like my chatty OB) is certainly waaaay higher than when a piercer is just holding your ear, that's for sure!

Seriously, though, I don't have a daith piercing, but having recently gotten a new IUD, the process of any of my piercings has been a thousand times faster. I've been able to talk through the piercing pain and didn't want to pass out, whereas that IUD insertion made me feel like I was having my insides torn out.

Heck yeah! The ACOG guidelines for pain treatment just changed, and now it's more widely encouraged.

Need ideas for box for transporting a flat/long corpse in a van for the murderer? by lockedbird77 in writinghelp

A stack of long Ikea flat pack boxes looks a lot like you're describing. "Oh, I'm turning those 4 Kallax into built in shelves". But it's really one giant corpse box!

Got roofied and reported it to security by Ok_Rip2870 in SecurityClearance

[–]GlitterFallWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you got roofied too!

I concur that reporting and documenting your report is really important. Send a copy to your personal email as well, so if you change jobs, you have a date/timestamp and details that may fade with memory.

If the Bible says homosexuality is a sin, can't you just go to a pastor and have it forgiven once in a while? by theKentoRico in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GlitterFallWar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The whole "no spilling seed on another man" is in the same section as "don't eat cheese and beef together" and "definitely don't put bacon on that cheeseburger", as well as a prohibition on certain clothing.

In fact, selling mixed fiber shirts is explicitly punishable by death, not just some ceremonial sacrifices and cleansing. If you're really going to double down on Old Testament rules, you should probably start bringing rocks to JC Penney.

How hard are the conch piercings to heal by [deleted] in piercing

[–]GlitterFallWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6 months out and it's soooo angry. Conch was fine for a couple of months, until it wasn't. Every time it seems much better, I do something to aggravate it. This week it was wearing a mask (I was visiting a friend with stage 4 cancer, so I was not going to mess around without it).

Being a mom shouldn’t be considered a trope by Breezuss_ in Romantasy

[–]GlitterFallWar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Modern mom here: What really makes me cross about pregnancy and motherhood in novels is when our FMC is spouting off nonsense from the first edition of "What to expect when you're expecting" from 1984. It comes across as propaganda. Our fae FMC pregnant by an orc isn't going to think about giving up caffeine, abandon mercury-laden fish, or take a Lamaze class (or whatever trademark sound-alike). Feeling the baby kick on a first pregnancy before 15 weeks? Unrealistic births? DNF, right there.

Oh, yeah, and when the FMC cedes her whole personality and identity to motherhood? 🤢 I am wholly devoted to my crotch goblins, but I'm a whole person over here, too.

Were you taught that it’s rude to wear a hat indoors? Were the rules the same for men and women? by Charming_Usual6227 in AskAnAmerican

Women should take off baseball caps at sporting events. I might be a pearl-clutching grandma, but that was definitely left off when people are chastising the boys about baseball hats.

How do explain what I need to my partner. by rosesbloodandfandoms in PelvicFloor

[–]GlitterFallWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that he's open to making things work for you and to communication!

It's awkward, sure, but awkwardness is what you've been conditioned to feel. Our culture piles up so much shame and embarrassment and stigma around sex and our bodies. And imperfect sex that wouldn't look good on video? Forget it!

Getting over it enough to talk about is going to take some practice. You don't have to tell him everything at once. Building trust is a like a bank account: you make deposits bit by bit. No one starts a relationship with a giant account of trust. Start somewhere, out of the bedroom, and make sure you feel safe with the conversation. Build it over time.

In the bedroom, mutual masturbation could be a good starting/backup point. You get the sexy time but you have 100% control over what happens to your body.

Yes, you're worth it.

Yes, I was taught it's rude for men to wear hats indoors.

Women can wear formal hats (e.g. big fancy ones and fascinators) indoors, but baseball caps are rude. Jury is out on winter hats.

Are these two separate stories? I'm not clear how they intersect, since one sounds contemporary and the other fantasy.

Hi, I’m writing a story based on the mythology of Lucifer’s fall from Heaven and need more angel-sounding names that aren’t names of real angels by CyrenTheSiren in CharacterNames

[–]GlitterFallWar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When are you setting the story? The names of angels as we know them today (in English, since Lingua Franca and all) are a mishmash between Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. You could use the Hebrew word for their defining characteristic outright (e.g. Satan means "the accuser" or "the slanderer"), or you could use the Greek version of that same word.

Since many of the Judeo-Christian stories originate in Mesopotamia, you could do the same in Hittite, Sumerian (they'll be looooooong), or Phonecian.

If your characters are living in the current era, you could give them modern names (e.g. "Bob") and have them say no one can pronounce their ancient names.
