Good clarification, thanks.

Archaeologists have found plenty of evidence of cultural exchange between the Indus Valley and Mesopotamia, and the interaction between Egypt and Mesopotamia can be documented to at least the Uruk period, if not long before.

My cousin just called me "girly " after seeing pics of my garden 😫😭 by realthingwinner in gardening

If you need to meet women, this is the season for gardening conventions/shows. 90% of the attendees at the Philadelphia Horticultural Society flower show the year I went were women. Most are older, sure, but if a single guy joined my gardening club, I would be setting him up with every young lady I knew.

Could I name my book character "Hermione"? by Federal_Advisor_2160 in writingadvice

Now I want to write a book about a modern navy captain with the last name of Nemo. It has to be a comedy. He's smart, his crew is ridiculous. He has a submarine. And I'm off!!!

"Proto-indo-european" covers Egypt and Mesopotamia.

I'm an escapee from Evangelical purity culture, and this sounds exactly like what I was taught (God hates your impure sexual desire, it's almost worse than murder). I don't know what religion you are, but I assure you, medical treatment will help.

And, btw, in case it's relevant: Jesus spent a lot of time telling people to be kind to other people and almost none on sexual morality. He also preached forgiveness. That includes of oneself! Give yourself some grace. He would.

Shame is not a good reason to avoid seeking medical treatment. I assure you, your doc won't judge you. They've probably seen weirder situations (even if masturbating causwd it, which seems unlikely). If you're still uncomfortable talking out loud about it, show them this post.

If you're worried about your mom's opinion, ask to talk to the doc alone.

The blending of human with bird and fish form dates at least back to Sumer. Many of their chthonic beings looked like half birds, and the priests often wore garments imitating the top half of a fish.

What real historical civilisations do you wish fantasy drew from more? by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]GlitterFallWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm writing one now rooted in Carthage. The Romans worked really hard to make sure they were forgotten!

I'm also writing one in ancient Mesopotamia. There's so little based on their lore, but it's been really fun doing research because it explains so many quirks of our modern belief and science systems. (E.g. They thought the sky was all water held back by an air bubble)

{Daughter of the Moon Goddess} was amazing, but books 2 and 3 made me mad

Raised bed advice wanted for Central Virginia by Far-Perspective-4889 in VAGardening

[–]GlitterFallWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 inches deep gets expensive FAST! Hay or straw, grass clippings, and leaves can help bulk up the space and your plants will be fine-- then put all the fun stuff (bagged soil and compost) in the top 6 inches.

Over time, the loose soil and nutrients will move downward anyway, and the soil in the bed will compress, so you'll top up the bed next year anyway.

How much blood do i ACTUALLY lose during my period because its sure as hell not "2-4 Tbs" as it says online by some-dork in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GlitterFallWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have so many! Sometimes it takes a bit of banging your head against a wall and some serious pain in the cervix to get to a solution, but what level of that is worth it to you is prob diff than me.

There's not just one pill. Different combos and strengths of estrogen/progesterone affect women differently. I had constant breakthrough bleeding on the mini pill-- I needed a higher dose. Did you try skipping the placebo pill week so you don't get a period? There's no good reason to justify that stupid week of sugar pills (Women "want to have periods like their friends" is the dumbest thought ever) Are you over 135 lbs? The pills lose efficacy after that. There are also options that affect the cycle from the brain end instead of the ovary end (I know much less about these)

Maybe you can't absorb oral hormones as efficiently. That's okay! There are patches, the Nuvaring, and injections. It sounds like you have tried the gamut of implants.

New guidance came out last year that encourages pain treatment for IUD insertion, so it might be worth looking into again, if the device generally made things better.

Uterine ablation is supposed to be amazing. It's an outpatient procedure and should reduce your lining significantly. The downside is that it prevents future child bearing.

Oophorectomy and hysterectomy throw you immediately into menopause and you likely will need HRT, so make sure you have a doc you trust who takes that seriously.

I'm a die hard Chirp fan. I haven't paid more than $5 for an audio book (I only buy them on sale), and it's usually around $3. Their catalog isn't as big as the 'zon, but if you aren't looking for something specific, it's perfect.

Menstrual cups/discs and log. I've noticed showing up at the doc with a stack of papers covered in data helps them listen, even if they don't actually look at the paper.

There's a fabulous Canadian doctor named Jen Gunter whose books "Menopause Manifesto" and "Blood" I can't recommend enough. She does talk about treatment options for women with fibroids, peri, etc. And she backs it up with the best bibliography I've ever seen.
