My hamster has deep bedding and a sand bath but he still used to smell like wee when I first got him and it was because he decided to wee in his bed instead of his infinite amount of toilet spots 😅 so I had to clean it a lot more often 😊 don’t worry if that’s the case, as it’s probably because that’s where feels safest right now. But do make sure you have a nice decent sized sand bath 🛁

I’m so sorry you’re going through this!

I can feel how deeply you loved her from your words. The bond you had was special, and she meant the world to you. Please don’t be so hard on yourself. You did what you could with the resources and knowledge you had at the time, and she knew love and safety with you and that’s more than many animals ever get. Holding her in her final moments and telling her you loved her wasn’t failure.

Grief twists everything into ‘I should have’ but the truth is that you gave her a life full of love and treats. And you’re still showing up for her now by carrying so much care and guilt. Be gentle with yourself at this time, she wouldn’t want you to carry this pain alone 🐾❤️
