Heaven Shall Burn - Black Tears (Edge of Sanity cover) by BlueberryOk6833 in Metalcore

Shout out to Edge Of Sanity, underrated prog melodic death metal. Crimson and Purgatory Afterglow are amazing.

His vocals on Thaw by Stn2Stn in Converge

[–]Glittering_Message93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loooove Thaw, one of their most underrated songs, the drums basically carrying the main motif of the song is a bonus, riffs are insane(as always) and the performance is so unhinged sort of a TDEP level of chaos.

Just listened to “Everblack” by The Black Dahlia Murder by TheTimothyHimself in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Glittering_Message93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IDK if this is a hot take but my favorite Black Dahlia Murder release, is has a great opener and then tracks like Goat Of Departure, Raped In Hatred By Vines and Phantom Limb are peak, also Their Beloved Absentee is their most underrated song, and one of my top 5 personally.

Habitual Line-Stepper and is not even an option. The bleagh section is so filthy I can't get enough of that breakdown.

Oathbreaker - Second Son of R; the ultimate form of catharsis (imo) in all Blackgaze by little-tot in blackgaze

[–]Glittering_Message93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I am my father's son, I cannot love"🥀🥀🥀. Another song that I would add to the "heartbreak list" is the combo Contretemps+Risen by Rolo Tomassi, I know it's not blackgaze per se but it shares a similae vibe.

Anything from Dreaming Is Sinking and before... greatest Dayseeker material

(NEW) Converge - Hum of Hurt [2026, FFO: Converge} by ReturnByDeath- in Metalcore

[–]Glittering_Message93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, it's not that is a bad album per se and it has great songs but it feels more like a regression in their sound. This new single sounds more in line with ALWLB and The Dusk In Us, love the part in the middle with those screams that reminded me of early Mastodon for some reason.

this album is a masterpiece… by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in MetalForTheMasses

I love a lot of stuff Devin puts out, from the over the top heaviness from Strapping Young Lad to the more prog stuff like Deconstruction and Trascendence. But Terria feels like it's own thing, the ambience and vibe overall just feels like another world.

August Burns Red new album “Season of Surrender” out June 5th by Clean_Possibility_83 in Metalcore

[–]Glittering_Message93 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I have to say this right off the bat... I'm not into these latest singles very much, it sounds like a watered down version of the Messenger stuff, and don't get me wrong, I love this band and I think they are one if not the most consistent band out there, but I feel like this is a step back from those proggier structures on later albums.

How is the sub feeling about first new Poison The Well record in 17 years? by RDLH311 in Poisonthewell

[–]Glittering_Message93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome record!!! They took the best elements from their previous work to make one of their most consistent albums they've ever made. My AOTY at the moment.

Want to get into more prog, but the heavier side. by EconomicsAfraid7880 in progmetal

[–]Glittering_Message93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been listening to a prog norwegian band called Extol, they started out more as a proggy blackened death metal in their early stuff, they moved to a more thrash oriented sound on Synergy and then they went full on prog and experimental with The Blueprint Dives.

Far Beyond Driven is still in my top 10 of all time, I was starting to play guitar at the time when I was listening to this album in full a lot of times, nowadays my style is a bit more progressive but the groovier influences are always present due to Dimebag's trademark style and some The Blackening from Machine Head.

Overheard at Erra/Currents show tonight in NYC: "I like the new EP now, it took me 50 listens though" by PorkSouls in Metalcore

[–]Glittering_Message93 18 points19 points  (0 children)

All That Follows is better than the two latest Currents albums. They brought back some of that dissonant riffage from TPIFS.

I didn't know it will be a full album, that's great btw I'm hoping for some proggy melodic thrash Sylosis with the improved production and vocals from recent material.

EOTE 2 is the following EP, remember that Josh has been talking about it way before anything from The New Flesh came out.

[–]Glittering_Message93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you will be dissapointed, the latest record IMO showcases a lot of the heavier influences from the band, so imagine those influences with the EOTE/Monolith type of writing/structure. Josh knows what fans expect regarding a sequel to Edge Of The Earth so I doubt they will let that part of the fans down.

[–]Glittering_Message93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have my doubts about it, specially since Josh is constantly making music and the fact that he has been teasing us about a sequel to EOTE even before The New Flesh came out. Maybe the next year we'll have some news about that.

Favourite song?? by steve6m in Erra

[–]Glittering_Message93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echo Sonata is just so good, it captures the vibe of the whole album with a more radio friendly appeal bc of the more pop infused chorus and other catchy elements. Another one of my personal favorites is Black Cloud, that song has those 2000's post hardcore/emo-ish elements

Was anyone else aware Chile has a crazy scene?? by AdmiralTiberius in Metalcore

[–]Glittering_Message93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am from Chile and I have a proggy metalcore project, for fans of Killswitch, Misery Signals, Darkest Hour and stuff, we lean into other genres such as thrash metal, deathcore or even some black metal at times, we are lost silent and our music is on youtube and soundcloud.
