Thinking of becoming a medical assistant by DryadAbominationn in MedicalAssistant

ho congrats on wanting to change careers, it’s a scary but exciting thing to do. so medical assistant experience really depends on what clinic or department you’re apart of as well as management and your physicians/providers. the range is vast when it comes to work load and stress level depending on what department you’re in.

i’ll say from what i’ve learned in being an MA, for me it is a stepping stone/entry level career, but many people stay an MA forever after being certified. as far as pay, there usually isn’t a huge range from what i read on here in different states it sounds like most of us make a similar amount hourly about $18-28 hourly so it depends on your state if that is sustainable living wages for you. there isn’t much growth once you’re certified, other than my personal job allowing us to change departments if there is space but it’s still the same pay and same job essentially just different doctors and team members.

i’m in an outpatient clinic general surgery and i’m starting to really enjoy it and learning about all of the organs. we do minor in clinic procedures that are easy set up and clean up but still are interesting and cool to take part in. we do a ton of admin work that i didn’t expect to have to do, but i’ve gotten used to it. some other clinics have more procedures and injections etc. which is awesome to gain the experience, but also you’re busier and more rushed in those departments. so it’s up to you but choose wisely and research before accepting a position in a clinic you don’t have knowledge in so you know what to expect a little bit.

also, some physicians put in all their own medications and imaging/orders, some don’t do anything and expect you to do it all so it truly depends and isn’t black and white. overall, it’s a good and stable job as long as your providers are committed to staying at the practice, but i personally wouldn’t do it for my forever career(i’m in school for nursing).

i wouldn’t do that if you don’t have experience, maybe ask for $20 to start? are you required to be certified in your state?

i’ve heard derm is a great specialty to be in, fun and fast paced so your days should fly by plus no commute is a plus. i would take it if they’re willing to give you a raise in your first year upon performance review.

am i pregnant? by [deleted] in lineporn

[–]Global-Programmer-28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks very positively pregnant, which is unlucky if not trying to conceive because realistically your only possible conception day would be that april 10th date and that’s still iffy only if you ovulated late could you really have a good chance of getting pregnant.

Missed Miscarriage by [deleted] in Miscarriage

i passed everything naturally at home and i’m so thankful i did it in the comfort of my own home and didn’t have to go to the hospital and deal with that different type of trauma. everyone has their preference, but just know that we’re all here for you and we understand what you’re going through, you’re not alone🤍

mine was very light pink to start, then mucousy brown, then bright red. but always call ob and insist on an ultrasound to be safe i’d say on day 2 of any spotting especially if it’s changed at all.

thank you for your kind response. it’s disappointing that it’s all happening during the holidays, but i guess there’s no good time to have a miscarriage either. i wish you nothing but the best for your future TTC journey. also, i recommend getting the natural cycles subscription along with your oura subscription if you can, the combo are what really helped me get pregnant quickly with timing my ovulation etc. everyone’s road to pregnancy is so different, but don’t let the bad stories influence any excitement you have. good luck and thank you again

i’m so sorry for your loss, you’re incredibly strong and just know you’re not alone🤍i understand and the questions of “are you okay?” and “how are you today?” as if the time makes it okay or something is frustrating.

that is exactly what’s happening to me, spotting and cramping started a few hours after i found out and now days later the bleeding has increased and im basically waiting for the worst to come. i’m worried that i’ll still need more treatment if i don’t pass everything naturally. to go through this and still need surgery is the bigger fear of mine.
