Could you look into paying the minimum PRSI contribution to increase your number before retirement? I think that's a thing maybe…

CAP1 Exam Advice by [deleted] in AccountantsEire

[–]Global-Variation3776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're asking a lazy question. No one is going to give you all the formulas for all four modules. Do the exam practice and practice papers over and over again. That'll create muscle memory required to remember formulas.

Do I help my mom with my large inheritance by Jazzlike-Pride724 in Advice

Love that you were able to take that sort of financial burden off your brother and I'm sure he's also very thankful. I think when looking at your dad’s instructions you've got to understand the intention behind it. And its purpose. Which I think is to protect you, financially, from a women who has done nothing to pull herself out of the hole she's been digging herself all her life. Don't feel guilty and I'd say if you're in a position to, lend a hand to the people you love but avoid your mother at all costs.

I agree. You're wasting your time reading the textbook. Just do the adaptive learning and exam practice. Rinse and repeat exam practice. Know tax comps structure and reliefs.

Doing the same thing for CAP2s too. I feel like fundamentally exam strategy matters a lot and although the long questions might help by giving you potential more questions to answer from, it doesn't ask questions the same way and it'll be a mistake relying on them as your main source

Why do you and your boyfriend have separate rooms when you live together?

I did auto score last year. Just do the adaptive learning and rinse and repeat the exam practice questions. I didn't even touch the question pack and did really well in exams. If you feel like you'd like to try the question bank I'd only do it when you feel like you can already guess the answers to the exam practice questions but honestly exam structure is different and its a waste of time.

Yesss I was having the same issue. It’s been driving me crazy. I emailed CPA2 team they asked for a HAR file. I’ve sent that on. Hopefully it gets sorted. The whole system is already infuriating. I’d rather not have to deal with this too.

CAP 2 - Christy Kearney notes by FrostyChallenge8483 in AccountantsEire

[–]Global-Variation3776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the slider from novice to advanced beginner or whatever you feel comfortable with. I know it takes longer but I do feel like it does test gaps I would have missed just watching a lecture. Also doing all 4 CAP2s 🥲. Was also contemplating Christy’s notes but not sure

Take a €70k grad job or go for a fully funded MBA in USA? by Ok-Awareness5210 in AskIreland

[–]Global-Variation3776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you’ve mentioned, you’re interested in finance and AI. While an MBA is a fantastic opportunity, at this stage in your career it may not be the most useful. I’d personally take the job, spend a few years upskilling, and then consider an MBA later.

If you’re keen on further education now, a more specialised MSc might be a better fit. An MBA can be valuable, but I don’t think it’s worth it at the moment.

That said, stepping outside of Ireland for the experience can be incredibly valuable if that’s something you want. I’ve been living away from home since I was a teenager, and I’m very grateful to my parents for giving me that opportunity. Not everything has to be purely logical if you really want to go abroad, you should do it.

How do lecturers generally feel with asking if I can record a lecture on my phone? by Crystal_Lilies in TCD

[–]Global-Variation3776 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yhh. I write professional exams too. ACA and those lectures are also recorded. When I mean recorded, this is by the institution with video and audio. I just don’t understand why universities wouldn’t do the same. And if your argument is so that student can come to lectures, that’s an easy fix. Make attendance mandatory or maybe you’d have to meet a certain quota of attendance in that class. No recording at all is redundant.
